Product Description

Editorial Review

Twisted Metal 2 is a game fueled by pure testosterone. The basic idea is to use your car and its onboard weapons to destroy all of the other cars in the race, cruising around such backdrops as Los Angeles, Paris, and Antarctica. Think of Spy Hunter meets demolition derby. You can race or choose to fight in tournament mode, where you don't advance until everyone else is destroyed. There are many cars and drivers to choose from, including some favorites like Mr. Grimm, Warthog, and malevolent ice cream clown Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal 1. All have an outrageous arsenal of weapons. This is a must-play for anyone who has experienced road rage and wants to get even--virtually. --Allen Stewart

Pros:

  • Wild cars, such as an ice cream truck, motorcycle, bulldozer, Indy car--even a tank
  • Diverse weapons such as missiles, napalm, and ricochet bombs
  • 2-player game adds the joy of trash-talking
Cons:
  • No real storyline beyond driving around and blowing things up
  • Complex controls

5.0 out of 5 stars the best of all the car combat, June 30, 2002

This review is from: Twisted Metal 2 (Video Game)
Twisted metal 2 has got to be the best version of twisted metal. I can't complain about the graphics, the characters are really cool, there are a number of different weapons you can use on your enemies, there's diverse landscapes to play on, the controls are easy to use. The Antarctica level has a fun feature where the land suddenly drops away and you can ram your enemies off huge cliffs. The Amazonia level has lava to drive on. The only problem is that you can't stop playing and waste numerous hours on the playstation. Well, I got to go play!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best PS1 games ever, February 18, 2002
This review is from: Twisted Metal 2 (Video Game)
Even though it came out a little over six years ago, Twisted Metal 2 still stands as one of PS1's best games and the best Twisted Metal game in the entire series. The graphics are a bit dated by today's standards, but everything else still holds up. The environments are huge and fully interactive (you can blow up the Eiffel Tower in Paris and destroy he gown around the Statue of Liberty to reveal a bikini in New York), and the control was at its peak here in all of the Twisted Metal games. Without a doubt a Playstation classic, this deserves to be in every PS1 or PS2 player's library.

I have all four games and 2 is the best! The controls are not confusing and all secret areas are easily accessible without maps or cheat codes. One of the best games ever written
