5.0 out of 5 stars the best of all the car combat
Twisted metal 2 has got to be the best version of twisted metal. I can't complain about the graphics, the characters are really cool, there are a number of different weapons you can use on your enemies, there's diverse landscapes to play on, the controls are easy to use. The Antarctica level has a fun feature where the land suddenly drops away and you can ram your...

3.0 out of 5 stars Still the same with improvements
If you didn't like the original Twisted Metal don't bother Reading this review -- nothing substantial has changed in the sequel. If you liked the original Twisted Metal don't bother reading this review either -- there's plenty of new cars and tracks in the sequel. If you don't fall into the above categories, read on. The Twisted Metal story is simple. Each year, a...

I can't complain about the graphics, the characters are really cool, there are a number of different weapons you can use on your enemies, there's diverse landscapes to play on, the controls are easy to use. The Antarctica level has a fun feature where the land suddenly drops away and you can ram your enemies off huge cliffs. The Amazonia level has lava to drive on. The only problem is that you can't stop playing and waste numerous hours on the playstation. Well, I got to go play!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best PS1 games ever, February 18, 2002
This review is from: Twisted Metal 2 (Video Game)
Even though it came out a little over six years ago, Twisted Metal 2 still stands as one of PS1's best games and the best Twisted Metal game in the entire series. The graphics are a bit dated by today's standards, but everything else still holds up. The environments are huge and fully interactive (you can blow up the Eiffel Tower in Paris and destroy he gown around the Statue of Liberty to reveal a bikini in New York), and the control was at its peak here in all of the Twisted Metal games. Without a doubt a Playstation classic, this deserves to be in every PS1 or PS2 player's library.

I have all four games and 2 is the best! The controls are not confusing and all secret areas are easily accessible without maps or cheat codes. One of the best games ever written

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my first video games, October 28, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Twisted Metal 2 (Video Game)
Twisted Metal 2 was one of my first video games and it is my favorite game of all time. No other Twisted Metal game compares. It's the end of 2010 and I've played so many games, from LittleBigPlanet to the Metal Gear Solid series. There is a countless amount of phenomenal games out there. However, I feel that this game will stay on top for me. The game never gets boring (Co-op is probably the most fun you can have in this game). It is difficult. The CPU are absolutely insane. They're not smart. That's for sure. What makes them twisted is they never run out of weapons and energy so they can freeze you to death. This makes the game challenging. The game is extremely fast-paced so no level is boring. Every character in the game is unique moves quickly so it lives up to its title of being twisted. There are many other Twisted Metal games out there but none of them even come close. The slowest character in this game is probably the faster than the fastest character in the other games. It really is that fast so you'll be spinning out of control and trying to survive in this crazy chaos. The levels start off boring (only compared to the later levels) but once you hit New York, it gets pretty out there. The Twisted Metal game that came the closest to this is Twisted Metal: Head On (The PS3 Twisted Metal hasn't come out yet but your characters act in clans so I'm sure it won't be the same. I just hope it's fun). The levels in Head On are somewhat similar to this game and all the characters in these two games are all special (something that lacks in every other Twisted Metal game). What's missing from Head On that makes it lesser to Twisted Metal 2 is the insane enemies, the ludicrous speed, and the high probability of getting killed.

For my final words, this game is almost perfection. The only possible way for a Twisted Metal game to be better than this one is in these ways:
- You make it a remake of this game
- The graphics and sounds are improved
- Everything else stays the same

It's a pretty strict way to make a game better than this. You can't do much better than an inch from perfection.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Twisted Metal games, September 4, 2001

I rented this game because I am a big TM fan. I'll tell ya', this game is pretty old and doesn't have the best graphics, but it's awesome. The levels are cool. My favorite is Holland: Field of Screams. The characters are awesome too. My favorite is Minion. One of the things that I almost immediately noticed about this game was the machine guns. I don't even know why they give you machine guns on TM 3 and 4. They don't do anything. On TM 2 the machine guns actually do some damage and debris flies off other vehicles when they are hit. It would take a week to kill someone with your machine guns on TM 3 and 4. Actually you would be killed in less than a minute if all you use is a machine gun on TM 3 and 4. If you want a good vehicular destruction game, you can buy any TM game, they are all fun, but I recommend TM 2. It will provide hours of fun, especially deathmatch mode.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great classic that will never tire, November 16, 2000

Back in 1996 when I first got my Playstation, one of greatest games was Twisted Metal, me and my best friend would play for hours on end have Twisted Metal nights, we would cuss, fight and beat eacother sensless, its one of the best mutliplayer games in my opinion. Soon after the announcmemt of Twisted Metal 2, it was long but very worthwile wait, I got it for Christmas that year,1997...Wow...what an incredible game. Graphics, gameplay, story, everthing was terrific. The best thing about the the Twisted Metal series was that it never got boring, It was different everytime you booted it up. The cars would be harder or easier, they would gang up on your, sometimes they wouldnt. Somtimes you had luck, sometimes, you had lack of it. I still remember loosing hours of sleep and very sore thumbs to this game. Now, I am ordering once again for my PS2, I can hardly wait to see my classic baby with texture smoothing.. yummy.....I true classic for all time in the Playstation library. This was the last and greatest series unfortunatly, after 989 studios took over, it completey destroyed everthing that made my game awesome. Hopefully, with the coming back of Incognito studios, Twisted Metal-Black will revive what was best part of this series: fast action, explosive, thumb numbing and just twisted pure, plain fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, August 13, 2000

First of all, I have played all of the Twisted Metals. That said, I think this one is the best. This game is so fun. The graphics may be somewhat outdated now but if you're not a "graphics" person you will definetly like this game.

Level design: The levels in TM2 are almost perfect. I played this game for a few days then went to TM3, the first thing I thought was, "These levels are stupid!" The levels in TM2 are big enough not to have everyone crammed together but small enough so that you can always find someone.

Gameplay: This and level design is where this game really shines. The driving is not realistic, but it doesn't frustrate you in the least bit. It is impossible to flip over in this game. It's never happened to me. Also there are little things like freeze and land mines that never get old.

Graphics: Somewhat pixelated, but once you get over them you will find that there is absolutely no slowdown.

Replay: I got this game a week ago and still haven't beat it with one person yet. And the 2 player battle is still one of the best parts of the game.

Bottom line: This is one of the best car combat games I've ever played. For the price, it's definitly worth it.

This game is great. The graphics are pretty good. Most of all, the vehicles and levels are the best. I got this game without knowing about it and was suprised by how good it was. TM3 is not as good. This game is worth getting.

This is the best play station game. The really good thing about it is that you can never get bored of it like you can when you have finished strategy games. You can play with your friends on it. Get this game right now!

Twisted Metal 2 is definately the best TM game. 1 and 4 were good, but not 3. What's great about TM2 is that it has many drivers to choose from, lots of great weapons and attacks, and there are secret levels, characters and weapons. The levels are great. I like them because the backgrounds are great, the graphics are great, and in some levels you can also jump the fence and go to the outside. And whats best about it, is that the gameplay is fairly hard. I recommend this game to anybody who likes action games, and blowing up cars and buildings.
