The best twisted metal yet!,

This review is from: Twisted Metal 4 (Video Game)
When Twisted metal 1 came out, I had never seen a game where you blow other cars up. I played this game for a long time awaiting the next great version.#2 was great with huge levels, and fast action. Again, awaiting 3 with great expectations.I bought 3 the day it came out.Upon playing 3 for the first time, it didn't even play like twisted metal. I had hoped that it would get better, but it just kept getting worse! All the fast action was gone, the levels were too small.I hardly played #3 within 2 weeks of purchase. Instead, I played Vigilante 8. Heard Twisted 4, was in development-I didn't even get excited due to #3. Of course being me, I bought #4 the day it debuted not knowing what to expect. From the second that I played it I knew that IT WAS THE BEST ONE! The cars now have reflections on them, & the explosions are tremendous. There's always fire on the screen somewhere, not to mention how much weapons are now available.Everywhere you look now weapons are laying around. The level designs are really good & they're huge. I've played thru the levels many, many times now & haven't found all secret paths. There are more characters than any other Twisted Metal,& more levels. Also, eight death-match only levels. These levels look like something off Tron. The challenge of the game isnt too hard nor easy. The create a car mode is really cool. You can pick body style, paint job, special weapon,& the scream when you die.Now you can save all your cars that you create,& the poeple you beat the game with-allowing you to watch their endings at anytime. The memory card option is the best thing that could have ever happened.I can't say that the endings are any better than #3, but all in all this is the best Twisted Metal YET! Get it as soon as possible.

Best Twisted Metal Ever!,

This review is from: Twisted Metal 4 (Video Game)
Like the other review(s), I loved TM1 from the start. A game in which blowing up cars wasn't just a great idea, but it was backed up with many missles and goodies to beat your opponent into the pavement. The endings were shotty, but with a great game like this, it wouldn't matter. Twisted Metal 2 was too cartoonish, which lead the game away from being as dark as the 1st one. But so be it...endings were better, cars were more graphic, and lush backrounds made way for great gameplay. Then, the unthinkable. TM3. 989 demolished its rep. and ruined it for game players. Endings were turned into horrible puns, cars were ruined with cartoon characters, and comic book strip faces took the place of drivers. I stopped playing twisted metal entirely. When I heard they were making a 4th installment, I was in awe. After they ruined the series, they had the nerve to come back and put out another worthless game. But my hypothesis was wrong. I bought the game the 1st day it came out. But before I did, I went online to view graphics and story. When i heard Sweet Tooth had overthrown Calipso, I began to think that maybe they started thinking at 989 studios. I was right about that. After playing and beating the game with 2 characters, Sweet Tooh and Orbital, I can offcially say that this is the best one yet. No more writing down passwords for a saved game, better and true endings, about 17 new cars, new bosses, new story, and great graphics. The only bad thing is what they did with Mr. Grimm. He is now a pirate. Otherwise, I couldn't of thought of a better way to spend my money. So if anyone thinks that 989 can't pull it off and is delaying buying this game, don't. TM4 is great! I look forward to a TM5 in the furture...hopefully Crimson Fury will return (best car ever)!

Wait a minute, how can you be serious with so many explosions all over the place. 989 Studios has revived the Twisted Metal name with this one. I was not pleased with Twisted III and was very skeptical about the release of 4, especially since 989 was still a part of it. They have fully redeemed themselves, now 4 offers packed action, a nice mix of weaponry, diverse levels, computer allies, create a car, and of course total chaos. If you enjoyed Twisted 2, you will probably LOVE Twisted 4. The music, the levels, and the use of memory card, have really enhanced this title. Let's hope the series continues! Bottom line: Great car combat action that is well worth the price tag.

In all, TM4 is a great game to buy. There are lots of features that this game has that the previous Twisted Metals do not have, such as creating a car. This mode lets you pick how big your car is, style, paint job, options, special weapon, battle cry, and you can give your car a name, too! TM4 has a range of new cars to choose from, such as Gen. Warthog, Meter Maid, Quatro, Bug Eyes, even Mr. Zombie (Rob Zombie), my personel favorite. TM4 also includes some of the older characters, such as Axel, but they can only be obtained by beating the game. There are 8 different battle zones, as well as secret levels in which you get when you beat each level in Tournament Mode. In Deathmatch Mode, you can choose your zone, CPU cars, your car, and how many CPU cars there are RATINGS (1-5) Graphics: 4.5 Sound: 4.5 Control: 4.5 Fun Factor: 5.0

This game is basically a demolition derby with toy cars that have different features and weapons.Ok, I love this game and the soundtrack. I would not let young children play it however because the soundtrack has some swearing in it and even one of the characters is a transvestite (Drag Queen). If you're an adult, this game is highly entertaining. The soundtrack has the likes of Rob Zombie, Cirrus, Cyprus Hill and Skold. I honestly didn't like this kind of music until I played the game. The graphics are very realistic and it reminds me of what it would be like if people drove toy cars. Sometimes the graphics get really slow; like when there is a lot of action happening at once. There is an option that you can turn off some features so that you will have smoother flowing action... Over all this game is a hit with me and my friends.

This game is the best Twisted Metal of all! There's a create-a-car feature, cool soundtrack, lots of cars (including Rob Zombie's Dragula), eight levels plus eight other hidden levels, and a bigger arsenal of weapons!

Twisted Metal 4 is the second worst in the Twisted metal seris. Its is behind Twisted 2 and 3. The level design is not very exciting and the car physics are not realistic. The characters are poorly made and thought up of and Sweettooth is amazing good. (He over throws Calypso) Some cool things are that you can play as Calypso. He drives a Soviet nuclear missile thing that lets you shoot a nuke as your special. This game is not worth [the money] though you should buy a used one .....

I think that the twisted metal series is the best car destruction series ever created. I have played tm 1,2,3, and I have 4, the only one i haven't Played is TM Black. I think TM 4 is the best tm yet is has awesome graphics, hidden leves Sweet Tooth is the master which i think is awesome and once you beat the game all bosses are playable in regular tournament mode. Including Sweet Tooth. You can create your own vehicle of destruction in create a car, and with the multi tap u can play 4 players.

This game is below average and a discrace to the twisted metal genre. I mean people who are die hard fans might get a kick out of this, but for you other people might want to rent it first.
With the clunky controls and clunky combat system and new cars that make you crash into the wall every single time you use every single car. THe soundtrack is good but this game is a huge dissapointment. If you want to try this game, rent it at blockbuster. |
