Mark Isham's soundtrack music begins with a nice trumpet that is the solo voice taking flight on "The City", an ode to a San Francisco night. This soundtrack is moody, tense edgy, not unlike the music for "Insomnia", "The Sentinel" or "Caught". The film was unanimously panned by critics upon its release but it really wasn't that bad. Predictable, yes, but the top cast headed by Ashley Judd and beautiful bay area locations make the movie worth watching. Isham's composition is the sort of music that is perfect for an after-hours atmosphere, with its velvety tones and soft, smooth flow. A sleeper soundtrack that should have a wider listening audience.
