5.0 out of 5 stars ...couldn't put it down
A great mix of historic information and action to keep kids interested.

My seven year old and I took turns reading chapters in this book. He was afraid to, at first, because there were a couple words he didn't know; however, the story grabbed his interest so much that he couldn't put the book down and wouldn't let me, either. We finished it in two days, and now he...

He was afraid to, at first, because there were a couple words he didn't know; however, the story grabbed his interest so much that he couldn't put the book down and wouldn't let me, either. We finished it in two days, and now he wants to read all the Magic Tree House books we've missed. He's always loved to read but this book series is taking him to a new level of reading and a new desire to read. Thanks to the author!

This review is from: Twister on Tuesday (Magic Tree House, No. 23) (Paperback)
I believe that Civil War On Sunday, Revolutionary War on Wednesday, and Twister on Tuesday are THE best three Magic Tree House books. While they are all good, these three stand alone (I can't wait for Camelot!).

Perfect for first graders to third graders!!!

The blend of fact and fiction makes for great read alouds in the classroom and great springboards for studying historical topics!!

SUPERB!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kept My Niece Flipping Through the Pages, April 28, 2010
This book is about the adventurous siblings, Jack and Annie, on perhaps their best adventure yet. They travel back in time to the prairie days and are faced with the challenge of a terrible twister and they have to save the schoolchildren before its two late. Children love the historical action and it teaches them about that time. Its suspenseful and thrilling, a feast of a book. It had my niece flipping pages like she never had before! Twister on Tuesday has broadened her reading horizons and gotten her interested on history.

The Magic Tree House is a very imaginative series of books. Jack and Annie are seven and eight year olds who find a magical tree house in the forest. The tree house allows them to travel to travel to different places and time periods by reading book s found in the tree house. In this particular story #23, they travel to the prairies in the 1870's. They are on a quest that began in book #21 to find the third of four kinds of writing to help save Camelot. On the paries they, learn first hand, how wagon trains were used, how one room school houses were used, how grasshoppers cause problems on the praires and the most important lesson they learn in the story is how important storm cellars and dugouts were! This is a great book to read while learning about the 1870's, prairie lands and weather. The back of each book also includes facts about twisters, pioneer life on the prairie and poineer school books. The illustrations used in this book are essential for understanding vocabulary if you haven't discussed wagon trains, dugouts and one room schools with your class. This is a very infomative book and keeps 6- 9 year olds avidly reaading and listening.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Curious Cubbies Loved Twisters on Tuesday, August 23, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Twister on Tuesday (Magic Tree House, No. 23) (Paperback)
Our class liked learning about living in the days of the pioneers. We learned a lot of new vocabulary words like dugout, billowed, horizon, vanish, hovered, scowl and rippling. If you read this book you will also learn that people aren't always how they seem. We saw that with Jeb, the school boy, who didn't know how to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take a twist on reading, July 5, 2010
This review is from: Twister on Tuesday (Magic Tree House, No. 23) (Paperback)
Twister on Tuesday is a great Magic Tree House book. Ms. Osborne takes history and information about tornadoes and puts them into a fun story that children will love. The story is one of a series of four books. The children need to find writing that shows Something to Learn in order to help save Camelot. The Children's tree house is whisked back in time to when people traveled across the country in wagon trains and children learned in one room school houses. Annie and Jack find themselves dressed like others from Civil War times and find a one room school house nearby. They go inside to find a very young teacher and three students of various ages. Jack and Annie participate in the lessons in hopes of figuring out what the "Something to Learn" is and get back to the tree house as quickly as possible. The two find a few barriers to the quest but are able to accomplish their mission.

The Magic Tree House series is a wonderful set of books. Both my children have enjoyed the series and have recommended them to others. I am proud of the information my children have learned from them and can't wait to read more of the books in the future.
