Interesting but occasionally confusing for a non-linguist,

This review is from: The Twitter Machine: Reflections on Language (Hardcover)
I read this book solely because I own a print of the painting shown on the cover... As curious as that may be, this book tells a lot about linguistics, why children say what they do and other somewhat useless explorations.Although this is all interesting, some of it falls out of normal understanding, without explanation so you are left confused and reading that section over and over again. Otherwise, it is, as it claims, a good starting to Linguistics. |
