Well, at first I didn't really think, that I could like this cd. But then, I don't why, listened to it for a couple times, and guess what? I just loved it. Now I know Depswa is an awesome band with an awesome music. So if you're into this music, you know kinda hard rock, nu-metal, then you definitely must get this cd, cause there is a big chance you'll really like it.

Decent, but not the Depswa I remember.,

As an avid follower of underground and unsigned music, I had heard Depswa a couple of years back. I generally liked their music (it was heavy, but chock-full of grooves not heard in most alternative bands' music), especially one song titled Faithless. This song, I beleive, was on their self-released EP. When I heard they'd been signed to Geffen, I rejoiced because I thought that, finally, they'd be able to properly record the songs on their EP. Well, only two songs from the 5 track EP made it and they took a hit in their "oomph" factor. The band's gritty but uplifting approach changed to a more subtle, melodic approach and while it's digestable, especially on a mainstream level, I personally want the old, unsigned Depswa in my CD player. If you like semi-aggressive music in the vain of Default (gag) or Ra (eh), then this is an album for you. If you're like me and wanting to hear the heavy-hitting Faithless, go find their under-produced but slightly better-than-this-debut EP. It's sad that so many promising bands can lose their luster in the transition from self-contained to Contract-contained.

THIS CD IS THE BEST OF THE YEAR AND OF THE DECADE,

WOW..this cd is astonishing. This band can do it all..from heavy metal screaming to the acoustic sound of Travelers Song. This Time starts everything with a great catchy touch, and as the cd goes along everysong gets better and better..Not responsible, the 2nd song on the cd gets hard! then needles slow it down a bit but also has a great ROCK sound. Let it go is just another catchy song..my least favorite song on the album ...but let it go is also very good nevertheless. The prom song just blew me away by its fantastic lyrics. This song is all a metaphor ..as it describes their love as a painting. THen as the cd proggreses ..it gets better and better..TWO angels and a Dream is great lyric song too..Describing the place in between heaven and hell being great as to being dispicable. Then from the inside is a hard rock song feeling to it. VOYEUR is next..Personally this is the 2nd best song to me ..maybe 1st best..The level from soft melody to extreme hardness is incredible..its FANTASTIC..the song flows greatly..Charades is another hard rock song ..which i like..THEN silhoutte comes and the whole album is turned heavenly..This song is incredible..the transition from hardcore..back to soft..from the verse to the chorus is amazing and u cant get enough of the song..its number 1 on my list..the path is next and is also a very smooth transition song..chorus being the best..i rank it 3rd on the album..then comes where ive begun..another good hard catchy song..has a nice melody also..and the last song..the travelers song..changes everything up..it shows that depswa can change from soft.to hard..to a whole new sound..a unique song with a nice uptempo beat..its a "fun" song.THIS ALBUM IS GREAT..best album ive ever heard and is probably the best iever will hear..this is the only album that ive had..that every single song is great..its hard to say which one is the best since everything is good!! listen to it! youll be amazed!

One Great CD,

I first saw this band live back in November and they rocked. I couldn't wait to get their CD. Now that I have the CD, I can say that it is awesome. I would recommend it to anyone that likes rock music. I recently saw them live for the second time at Ozzfest. They are one of the best live acts I have seen and the album is great. I can guarantee that if you get this album you won't be disappointed.

An Amazing CD.,

While many reviewers here complain about Depswa's lack of heaviness on their debut album, many do not realize that this is a direction that the band wanted to pursue; it is, then, what Depswa is.Having said that, this CD blows me away. From the catchy tune "This Time" to the incredible acoustic "Traveler's Song", this CD delivers across a broad rock spectrum that is sure to please almost anyone who enjoys rock music. It is heartfelt, well-written music that speaks volumes - "Prom Song" alone, in comparing words to paint which paints a picture of love, is one of the best-written songs I've heard in years. If you haven't listened to this yet, you owe it to yourself to do so.

Excelent New Band,
This review is from: Two Angels & A Dream (Audio CD)
Depswa's "Two Angels And A Dream" album is a great mixture of melody and a good, meaty guitar sound, soaring choruses and catchy hooks. Tracks 1 and the title track are probably the best on here, if I had to choose - track 5 reminds me a little bit of HIM, too (which is good). If you like Ra, Trapt, or From Zero (the closest reference point in my opinion), then definitely check this band out. While you're at it, check out Smile Empty Soul, Finger Eleven and doubleDrive, too. Highly recommended for anyone who likes the melodic-rock/metal scene. |
