5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Debut Album, January 26, 2002

Anybody who is a fan of Gardenian's newer works, (Soulburner and Sindustries) would definately love this album. It has everything those two albums have to offer. For a debut... this album is really, really good seeing as how it is so tight and and has that fairly distinct Gothenburg sound. Granted it isn't as awesome as Soulburner, but this album still deserves the five stars I gave it.

I definately Recommend this cd to anyone who loves metal.

I wasn't expected to get this so soon after Hurricane Ike came through my house. It was a great stress reliever.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fierce Debut, July 30, 2007
This review is from: Two Feet Stand (Audio CD)
Two Feet Stand is the 1997 debut album from Swedish melodic death metal band Gardenian. The band debuted a few years after bands like At the Gates, In Flames and Dark Tranquillity put the "Gothenburg sound" on the map, so they don't come across as all that original. Still, if you're into melodic death metal, chances are you'll dig this band.

On Two Feet Stand, Gardenian's sound is a bit raw and very aggressive, owing more to At the Gates and Hypocrisy than Dark Tranquillity or Soilwork. Forget about clean vocals or experiments with keyboards. Their sound might shift a bit on later albums, but here it is all about Maiden-esque guitar riffs drenched with the glorious fury of death metal aggression.

Gardenian is an often overlooked product of the Gothenburg scene. If you're into that type of music, you'd do well to check them out. Start with this album, and if your ears aren't bleeding too much afterwards, move on to Sindustries and then loop back around for the more experimental Soulburner.

Edition Notes: The only version of Two Feet Stand I've ever seen is a Japanese import. I'm not even sure if it was ever released in Europe. Unfortunately that means this is a hard to find, and hard to afford, CD.
