5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting remixes, July 16, 2005
This review is from: Two Fingers My Friends (Audio CD)
Before I start, let me say that as of July 16, 2005, the audio samples are horribly out of order, and often don't match the song listed next to it. This is a great remix album, as PWEI have gotten people to remix every single track from the album. Fun-Da-Mental replace the vocals with their own and add a general creepiness to Ich Bin Ein Auslander, and it works very well. Jim Thirlwell (Foetus) doesn't do much to Kick to Kill, expect add more aggressiveness to the track, but as it was already one the harder tracks on the album, it adds a kick to it (sorry for the pun). Jah Wobble turns Familius Horribilis into a bass-heavy near-dancable number, and puts Clint's vocals more upfront. Renegade Soundwave turn Underbelly into an ambient soundscape, and sounds almost nothing like the original. Hoodlum Priest take Fatman and give it a sinister groove, and improves the song greatly. The Orb turn Home into an 11-minute long electronic dub reggae trip, and make it very much their own (complete with long spike jones intro). Global Communication changes Cape Connection into a slow stomping song with Russian choir singing. Concrete take Menofearthereaper to a similar sinister groove as Fatman (not surpisingly, if you check the credits, Hoodlum Priest and Concrete involve the same person). Youth turns Everything's Cool into a 10 minute twisting and turning of the original. Apollo 440 seem to just add a little extra production and oomph to RSVP, and it's made better. To end the album, Loop Guru takes Babylon and makes it a relaxed danceable track. This is easily worth getting, and there's also a double disc version floating around with a bonus disc of remixes. It was limited to only 10,000 copies, but as I'm now on my 3rd copy (the first one was demolished by a small child, the second died when soda was spilled on it), there's only at most 9,998 out there. Only about half of the tracks can be found elsewhere, so get it if you can. It pops up on Ebay every once in a while.
