A new humorous mystery series!

Linda and Octavia are estranged sisters. The stay-at-home mom and socialite have never had much in common...until now. When they suddenly find themselves husbandless and broke, they reluctantly agree to combine their talents and take on a faltering P.I. agency in a strip mall. Old emotional wounds keep the two at odds and both sisters think they've made a huge mistake. But soon they realize all their clients have secrets...and who better to help them than two women who have secrets of their own?

More About the Author

Stephanie Bond was several years into a corporate computer programming career when an instructor in her night school MBA program remarked that she had a flair for writing and encouraged her to submit one of her projects to academic journals. "But," Stephanie says, "all I could think was 'I wonder if I could write a romance novel?'" Bond grew up on a farm in eastern Kentucky where the entertainment choices were few. Luckily, she had a beloved aunt who shared her passion for reading. "When she visited once a year, she brought boxes and boxes of gothic novels by Victoria Holt and Phyllis Whitney and lush historical romances--I was in heaven! So suddenly thinking about writing in the genre of the books I loved was very exciting." After writing every spare moment for two years, Stephanie sold her first romantic comedy manuscript, IRRESISTIBLE? to Harlequin books. Two years later, she walked away from her corporate career to write commercial fiction full time. To date, she's published over 60 romance and mystery projects with Random House, St. Martin's Press, HarperCollins, and Mira Books, and is most well-known for her BODY MOVERS humorous mystery series. Her latest book is 7 BRIDES FOR 7 BODIES. Stephanie lives in midtown Atlanta and is probably working on a story at this very moment.

I enjoyed this comedy mystery a lot, especially how the relationship between Linda and Octavia developed. For those who can't wait for the next one I recommend another funny female detective: Lisa Becker in Heads Off (A Lisa Becker Mystery).

Loved the first book in this new series and am looking forward to reading the second (and hopefully third etc...) book. It kept my interest and was a quick read without a lot of clunky dialog. Also liked the fact that there was none of those overly descriptive love scenes...hate those! Loved Octavia's character! I liked how the stories lines in this first book will NEED to be carried into the next one and can't wait to see how some of them will end. I like Stephanie Bond...I think she is a great writer but I am still waiting for the next book in the Body Mover series! A fan of this series for the future for sure!

I am probably the only person who feels this way...but I resent paying for a book that requires me to purchase the next one hoping for a resolution. I liked the characters, but I don't like wasting a day on a book that is basically a hook for future books.

The author set up a story and then fails to tie up the basic premise of the book. That's no way to write a series like this. Even simple but fun young adult dystopian novels like the The Hunger Games tie up the basic plot in each book, while leaving the possibility open for more. In this book, I was just looking for a decently written diversion. A lot of the book's plot and development is sketchy, unconvincing and a bit lazy, but I overlook those sorts of things in the interest of a little entertainment. But one does not leave the main plot unresolved in the faint hope of reeling in some readers for the next book. The author threw a lot of lines out there that are not incidental to the main plot that could be used for future books, so that tactic is as unnecessary as it is unappreciated. Bottom line: The idea or set-up is good, the writing is okay, but the author's failure to wrap up the basic plot in her book means I won't bother to read anymore of her work.

This book is awesome even though it feels more like a prequel than the first book in a series. I really enjoyed seeing two estranged sisters learnining to be family again. Every family has problems but theirs are way more extreme than most!

There was plenty of mystery and tons of suspense mixed in with the comedy though there was absolutely no romance anywhere that I could see. The charcters were fun and quirky. The action was fast paced and the plot twists sublime. You get a bit confused at times but Bond quickly steers you back into the proper direction :)

This book was a quick read for me and truly entertaining. I would recommend this book to any mystery fans who like the comedic side of detective work. Especially Stephanie Plum fans will enjoy it. Amateur Private Investigators who just naturally know how to get to the bottom of the most interesting cases are just plain fun!

*** this book is suitable for young adult through adult readers

This book had good reviews and was free on the lending library. That is why I got it. I was so bummed to reach an end with no conclusion. This book hardly held my interest so took me a week to read. I hate not finishing a book so suffered through. Clearly a set up for the series. Just felt like some conclusions would have been nice.

Loved the book, anyone with sisters can relate to the differences between them, yet there history could never separate them.

Bonds Bugs Me!
I definitely won't pay full price for a Plum book anymore, nor do I really look forward to the new releases. Ever since about 12/13 the series lost its appeal for me. Once in awhile I'll get some "plum" nostalgia and I'll order a used copy from Amazon - as long as it's only a couple... Read More
