4.0 out of 5 stars They Seized the Moment, October 7, 2009
This review is from: Two The Hard Way (Vinyl)
Cher & Gregg Allman seized the moment and recorded this one and only album. It's got 11 songs, with a range of styles. Most songs have a R&B feel to them. Others have a light disco backbeat with the drums. This was the 4th and last 70's album by Cher that was on Warner Brothers. Surprisingly, none of her WB albums yielded any hit singles, and this album didn't even chart on Billboard's Top 200 albums. It is a good time piece, and has some highlights with CAN YOU FEEL and DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO, two of the best songs on here. They share each song together, but also get one solo each, Cher on ISLAND, a very different sparse arrangement that is rare to hear, and Gregg on SHADOW DREAM SONG. Also notable is their version of YOU'VE REALLY GOT A HOLD ON ME, which Sonny & Cher did in 1965 . The album spotlights them as singers, as Gregg Allman didn't even play guitar on this, nor write any original songs. It's a good effort, but MOVE ME, the only single issued from it, and a light disco dud, is the opening track & not a very good one either. Their versions of the R&B oldies illustrate their influences, and their version of Elvis' LOVE ME, is also a highlight.

Songs: MOVE ME, I FOUND YOU LOVE, CAN YOU FEEL, YOU'VE REALLY GOT A HOLD ON ME, WE'RE GONNA MAKE IT, DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO, IN FOR THE NIGHT, SHADOW DREAM SONG, ISLAND, I LOVE MAKIN' LOVE TO YOU, LOVE ME. WARNER BROTHERS BSK 3120. 1977.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic collector's item for Cher and Gregg Allman fans!, June 19, 2008
This review is from: Two The Hard Way (Vinyl)
This is a rare album made by Cher and Gregg Allman together. It's great and is very unique! It's a great album to have if you're a Cher and/or Gregg Allman fan! I made a CD from this LP, so that I could enjoy it in my car also! I love this LP and I love the picture on the cover (have it framed)!

5.0 out of 5 stars Please - Rerelease This On CD, March 20, 2009
This review is from: Two The Hard Way (Vinyl)
This is a great album. One track 'Can You Fool' made it on to the Allman Brother's Band box set called 'Dreams'. You'll find it on disc number four. This isn't some novelty album either. The songs, performances and production are top-notch. It's a good collection of blues based rock songs. The only problem I have with this album is that it is not available on CD - at least not to my knowledge. So someone please remaster this and release it on CD.

Like another reviewer, I love this album so much that I finally transferred it myself to a cd-r (and subsequently made mp3 files) so I could listen to it wherever/whenever I want.

Every track for me is great, with the distinctive voices of both Cher and Gregg creating an interesting and distinctive blend. As others have written, this is really a blues/pop-rock album with a nod to middle of the road disco in the opening track, Move Me. I would list my favorite tracks but, honestly, I love the entire album. If I had to pick a favorite relatively obscure album, this would definitely be among a small number of finalists. It really deserves a legitimate cd reissue from the master tapes, but for now I'll just keep playing my vinyl "rip."
