Better than the first.,
This review is from: Two Knotty Boys Back on the Ropes (Paperback)
I would not recommend buying this book by itself. You should really consider getting the first either before, or along side this one. This edition has several more tastefully shown methods of rope play. Several of which refer back to the previous book for the beginning knots of the segments shown. So, previous knots shown aren't fully recapped in this edition, but are still used in many of the techniques. So, again, make sure you include the first one to your collection as to avoid confusion and to maximize the fun.

I bought the first book that the Knotty Boys put out and was satisfied with that, but this book is even better than the first. More ties, easy to read instructions and great pictures. If you are just starting out or have been practicing for a while, this is definitely something to pick up.

Informative, entertaining, excellent photography and pretty girls. A 'must have' for anyone interested even slightly in rope bondage.

A very nice follow-up to the first Knotty Boys book, full of interesting and useful ties that ought to be plenty of fun to explore. However, there are a few small problems with the book that prevent me from giving it a five star rating.
First of all despite the product description above, which suggests you can lay the book flat while working out of it, it doesn't have a lay-flat binding. Seeing as how both of your hands are going to be busy tying the knots, some kind of weight or clip is needed to ensure the book doesn't close on you as you work. Next, the pictures that illustrate the steps of each knot are smaller than they should be (just 1.5 inches square), which makes it hard to see what's going on in some of the steps. I would have been happier with larger pictures, even if the resulting increase in the number of pages would have meant a somewhat higher price. And finally, there are more decorative ties in the book than I would have liked, but this is a fairly minor complaint, as I'm sure other will find them quite useful. Bottom line, great content, flawed execution.

Excelence revisited,

More of the excelent quality photograps and clear consise instructional text from the first book. Funny and pertiant information. If only all textbooks were this much fun!
Some of the information in the book duplicates videos freely avalible from their website, but theres enough here that isn't that you're getting your money's worth and more. Functional and decorative at the same time, and the information contained inside is too! By and far an excelent sequel to one of the best handbooks for ropework that I've ever had the pleasure of owning. I wholeheartedly reccomend it to the novice and experienced rigger alike.

Not a great format,

I like these guys and their approach to rope work. They give you some very interesting knots to work with and as they state with a little imagination you can do a lot. Unfortunatly the format doesn't work very well in the e-book version. A little difficult at times to distinguise the end of one knot from the biggining of the other. And there fore I think it would be too confusing for a bigginer who is trying to wrap thier head around the knots. Also some of the sequences aren't as clear as they could be perhaps being a little larger would help . I found it actually easier to study the knot and work it out then to follow the sequenced pictures. My other complaint would be there is so little difference in price between the actual book and the e- version you are better off with the real book in hand. One last critique the sequencial images are a little on the small side and there fore hard to see what is going on.
I like the book but the format needs some work.

Back on the Ropes is a great buy for those interested in tying up their partner. Most of the ties work well on the female body. Rope lengths specified can be a little on the long side for the thinner female. Great companion book to the first one. There are some knots they use in this book that are only described in the first book. For a book on knots, they do a surprisingly good job of showing each seperate piece of the knot and how it is done. The only way to improve upon this would be to actually learn directly face to face from them.

Every bit as good as the first, there is some repeat material but the new stuff is worth the price.

Poor,

The written steps often do not match the corresponding photos. I dare the author to tie one of his own knots by strictly following the written steps. Somehow the photos were not correctly shot at the appropriate moment and the written steps do not necessarily show what you see in the photos. Clearly this book did not receive a final tech edit -- the draft was prematurely shipped to the publisher for printing.
