5.0 out of 5 stars Relient K Brings Their A-Game, January 10, 2008
This review is from: Two Lefts Dont Make a Right (Audio CD)
Two years later and Relient K is ready to bring game. Songs focus on girls, God, and life's various challenges. While pop culture still pops up sporadically--Jefferson Airplane, Britney Spears, 80's-- all referenced, they're clearly backdrops to more mature themes like moving forward in life.

Songs about the "complex infrastructure known as the female mind" are given droll twists--
ever give an emotional girl a mood ring? The band also found their forte--punk songs with wordplay. The best example would be "Mood Rings" with lines like, "If it's drama you want, then look no further. They're like the real world, meets boy meets world, meets days of our lives."

And the classic--"And it just figures that we'll never figure them out, first she's Jekyll then she's Hyde ... at least she makes a lovely pair."
The highlight is "Jefferson Aero Plane," where the strengths of the band are united in an idiosyncratic song that takes wordplay up a few notches, provides stellar vocals, and one of the best melodies of the past five years. While the lyrics are cryptic at best, it's infectiously catchy, and one to remember, as genius flows a waterfall.

The tunes are fantastic as the guitar solos are brilliant and catchy in "Over Thinking." Overall, Two Lefts... is one for the CD collection. While imperfect, the album carries exceptional songs and is a worthy chapter in the band's legacy. As for entertainment, listen to the hidden track after "Jefferson Aero Plane," rest assured, you will not be bored.

By the way, the Gold Edition isn't all that much different, except for one music video, and that's really it. But there could be a sound quality difference, which I wouldn't know, without having the original album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Relient K Rocks!, June 27, 2007

This review is from: Two Lefts Dont Make a Right (Audio CD)
When I first heard this album I fell in love with it right away. It is an amazing album. It is a very energetic album. They have fun and funny lyrics, but also they have some more serious songs like "Getting Into You". If you liked any of RK's other albums you'll love this album I guarantee it. If you like relient and suggest you try out these other bands also: Hawk Nelson, Eleventyseven, Mae, Sherwood

5.0 out of 5 stars If You Thought Anatomy Couldn't Be Topped..., April 7, 2011
This review is from: Two Lefts Dont Make a Right (Audio CD)
I absolutely LOVE this album. There are so many catchy hooks, I can't put my guitar down while playing this CD. I don't think I ever hit the skip button while listening either. Off the bat, I would say the "Forward Motion" caught my ear. I also thought that "College Kids" was an excellent punk song. There were also some more mellower punk song like "Overthinking" and "I am Understood?". "Chapped Lips..." is fun to play on the drums. I think also to, the lyrics on this album on pretty intense. Thiessen does a good job of writing on this CD, or course so does Douglas and Hoopes. I just think it is a well crafter album and a GREAT follow up to Anatomy of Tongue in Cheek. Definitely, you need this in your collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Music, October 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Two Lefts Dont Make a Right (Audio CD)
I bought this album because I had herd "Chap Stick, Chapped Lips, and Things Like Chemistry" and thought it was a good song so I listened to a couple more songs from the album, liked them and decided to buy the whole thing. Since then I have listened to it countless times (as well as Relient K's other albums).
The lyrics are clever and meaningful, and they have a veriety of sounds from "moodrings" an upbeat funny song to "jeferson aero plane" which I listen to when I need to settle down or just relax. So buy it! It's funny and they guys are talented.

5.0 out of 5 stars Relient K: Fun Music That Means Something, May 31, 2010
This review is from: Two Lefts Dont Make a Right (Audio CD)
I listened to this album when I was just becoming a fan of Relient K and it has remained one of my favorites. They nailed the combination of catchy tunes, clever lyrics, cute themes, humor, deep meanings, and Christian values and beliefs perfectly.

I will list some of the songs on this album and tell about them and why I like them

*"Mood Rings"- This song expresses the frustration guys go through trying to understand girls. Being a girl, I could just scoff at this song, but I must say, we are hard to understand. What I really like about this song is it expresses a guy's feeling about trying to understand girls without being hateful or rude. The guy has a yearning to understand girls, "Mood ring, tell me will you bring the key to unlock this mystery of girls and their emotions..."

*"Falling Out"- One of my favorites. Many Christians can relate to this song because we feel different and isolated even hated by the rest of the world because of our beliefs and motives to walk in God's path. Once again, Relient K uses their powerful lyrics to display a powerful feeling, "Facedown this carpet tastes like coffee grounds ground into my face now". This line shows the pain and struggles you can feel when you are in this situation. This song contains hope as well, "But I know I'm never falling out of favor with You". God's with you always.

* "Forward Motion"- Again, one of my favorites. I love the beginning, the "Whoah"'s and the metaphors. This song is about trying hard to become a better person but always ending up back where you started.

* "College Kids"- It's nice to have a song about College that's honest and expresses an attitude that many of us can relate to yet never shows up in the media, "The party scene is kinda mean, I think it's sick and twisted".

* "Hoopes I Did it Again"- Why did they choose to use the last name of one of their members as a pun? It could be so no one confuses it with a Britney Spears song or it's just Relient K being their silly selfs... or both. Whatever the case, it's a song about being a restless teenager not always being focused on the right things and striving to be better. The teen years are when you decide on who you "really are" and you make a lot of mistakes while doing so.

*"Gibberish"- Even the most nonsense-sounding song, has a point, you should think before you say something, say what you mean, etc;. It's a very fun song to know by heart, try to memorize it if you haven't already:)

*"Getting Into You"- A beautiful song about living for God despite what others think and the wonder about God loving you for who you are.

This album is the best fun yet meaningfully structured album they've had and I don't think I'll ever get sick of listening to it:)
