This review is from: Two Loves, One Heart (Paperback)
I loved this book. It is very inspirational and uplifting. It gives you determination to not give up on love just because a relationship or marriage fails.
I was touched by the support Steve offered to his childhood friend Lynette. It took me back to my childhood days and makes me cherish the bonds I developed with my freinds and family growing up in a small town. Lynette was a loving devoted wife and even though her marriage didn't work out with Billy she never gave up on love. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading the next. If the author gets a chance to read this review I'd like to say "I'd love to read the story of Lynette's girlfriend Sam". Congratulations on a great book Tina :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Love is Priceless if you're blessed to recognize it, September 3, 2008
This review is from: Two Loves, One Heart (Paperback)
This was a wonderful soul touching story. There is always that one person in each of our lives that will be there no matter what. The story will inspire so many people to never give up on love. Our hearts hold so much love, and it's so beautiful when it is reciprocated with no strings attached. Lynnette was blessed to have a friend like Sam. Steve was definitely a gem from her past. Steve was what I'd like to call a needle in a haystack, visible only to those who choose to look close enough to find it. I continue to stress "What GOD has joined together, not what we join together. A wonderful and affectionate read.

Much Respect,

5.0 out of 5 stars An Emotional Conflict Worth Discussing, November 22, 2009
This review is from: Two Loves, One Heart (Paperback)
In TWO LOVES, ONE HEART, author Carrie J. Keaton makes the reader examine what we really feel when it comes to those who become a part of our lives. What are you willing to lose in order to have what you really want? What sacrifices might have to come along the way in order to get what we feel is our rightful happiness.

These are all questions that the reader will be faced to ask themselves as well as look at through the eyes of the characters having to make the decision.

A great book that keeps the reader's attention signals that the author has no plans of going anywhere soon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Review for Two Loves, One Heart, September 5, 2006
This review is from: Two Loves, One Heart (Paperback)
This book depicts a woman's search for true love. It's a book about romance with a domestic violence theme. We all know that domestic violence is a all-too-common occurrence in today's society, and it wreaks havoc on the emotional and physical well-being of its victims. In this novel, I bring these emotions to life in the story of a young, ambitious woman who must choose between her first love turned abusive and an old friendship that develops into a passionate romance.

Lynnette Thomas is a beautiful and passionate young woman from Atlanta who has firm plans for her life. She dreams about marrying her childhood sweetheart, Billy Matthews, launching a career in business administration and raising a family. Lynnette's plans start out well as she and Billy get married and move to Charleston, South Carolina to begin their life together. They are the perfect couple for a while, until Billy becomes extremely possessive and demanding of Lynnette. Her fairytale life began crashing down around her and left her feeling adrift and lonely. Billy starts using drugs, alienates her from her friends and ambitions and emotionally and physically abuses her.

Billy ends up abandoning Lynnette while she is pregnant, leaving her feeling ashamed, hurt and alone. At her lowest point a long-lost childhood friend, Steve Montgomery, re-enters her life. Steve was a nerd in high school who loved Lynnette from afar, but is now a dashing, successful lawyer. As time goes on, Lynnette and Steve began re-connecting on a different level. Steve has always had feelings for her, but now Lynnette feelings have changed toward him. She's falling in love with Steve, but still have some unresolved feelings for Billy. After a few months, Lynnette gives birth to a healthy baby boy that she names Jarmarr. Steve is there for her during this trying time and stays by her side. Lynnette and Steve's feelings for each other continue to grow and he falls in love with Lynnette's son too.

Steve sweeps Lynnette off her feet in a dazzling romance. After so much time passes, he helps Lynnette acquire a divorce from her estranged husband Billy and begin to make permanent plans of their own. Though both Steve and Lynnette are a little frightened by the new, unfamiliar feelings between them, they join together in a happy marriage. Their new life together flourishes. Lynnette goes back to college and gets her Masters degree in Business Administration, and gets another surprise. She is now pregnant with she and Steve's baby. As their lives continue, Lynnette gives birth to little Brianna. Steve had come to be an excellent father to Jarmarr and was now a proud father of his very own adorable little girl.

Life is good until Billy calls Lynnette up out of the blue. After all of this time, he decides to resurface after a 10-year absence looking for a fresh start with Lynnette. Lynnette has a huge decision to make. She must decide whether to continue her wonderful new life with Steve or give Billy, who was her first love, a second chance.

Anyone who has ever felt the heartbreak and trials that love can bring, especially those who have experienced abusive or controlling relationships, will relate to Lynnette's journey to find true love within herself. I created this novel to offer hope and inspiration to victims of domestic violence. This book is about the power of romance. I wanted to try to give readers hope that they can bring their lives around from the brink of devastation and despair if they have the desire to want to help themselves.

Author's Special Comments: I wanted to communicate to readers living with abuse is not okay and that anyone who is being abused should know that they are worthy of being helped. This help can come from family and friends or professionally if the need be. I am speaking from experience and I am a SURVIVOR. My strong faith in God and my family helped me to find my way back from that dark and lonely place. I am thankful and truly blessed. Life and experience has taught me that, "LOVE SHOULDN'T HURT". If you are in an abusive relationship or know of someone who is, please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or at TTY 1-800-787-3224.
