5.0 out of 5 stars Bloc Party Comes of Age, October 27, 2005
This review is from: Two More Years (Audio CD)
It's pretty hard not to like Bloc Party, with their driving upbeat pop dance tunes that are just impossible not to move some part of your body to. When I heard "Two More Years", I had to make sure I was listening to the same band. This song is so tight and polished, both lyrically and musically, you'd think that they'd been pumping out smash hits for years! "Two More Years" quickly gets very infectious, and when it's over, you can't wait to play it again. And again. And one more time. While "Two More Years" has all the dance appeal and rythymic pounding of their hit "Banquet", this song takes a huge leap by being both a great dance tune and an exquisitly listenable pop tune. As another reviewer said, if this single is any indication of the quality of their new material, we're in for some special music, and a lot more people will soon discover Bloc Party. Get this single and you'll get infected too! I'll bet you'll be humming "Two More Years" all the time, just like me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Two good songs, February 7, 2007

This review is from: Two More Years (Audio CD)
First off, I wanted to give this 4 stars, but I made a mistake.
These guys release so many singles, b-sides, and remixes it's hard to keep track! Personally, I could do without some of the remixes. Sometimes it just seems like filler so they'd have something "new" to throw on a single. Kinda like when bands put poor quality live tracks on a single, and then release a whole live album of much better quality recordings. How many different versions of one song do you really need before you think, "Hey, this is the same song, you got something else?".

Luckily, These guys always DO have something else! There are two NEW songs and two videos on this.
The first song and name sake of this single is Two More Years. This is a great song. Kinda mellow, but with a great driving drum beat, and catchy lyrics and vocal melodies. Definitly the highlight.
Song two is titled Hero. It is even more mellow than Two More Years, has a little of a Police influence to it, and is also very good.
The first video is for the song Two More Years.
Video two is Banquet (the Streets Mix), and yeah, it's whatever.
Over all these two songs have a very romantic quality to them and they are both good tracks.
At the rate these guys are going, they're gunna have to release a double singles and b-sides disc by the end of the year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smashing!, February 13, 2006

AD JOHN "Andrew" (Sydney, Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Two More Years (Audio CD)
I just can't get enough of bloc party, I love their 'upbeat' down-hearted falvour and this single just inforces all the reasons why they are my favourite band on the planet! I just can't wait for the next album, cause I'm not hoping for a miracle, I know that bloc party will produce the goods.
