Book Description

Inspired by the Top 100 Amazon Bestselling Novel, Trail of 32

'A Two Pedal World-The Beginning,' is the first book in 'The Two Pedal World' series. It was a magical time--a two pedal world, when bicycles weren't just a toy--they were a kid's chief mode of transportation. A coming of age story about the adventurous life of a boy growing up during the 1950's through the early 70's in a Midwestern town. Discipline was harsh, supervision often rare, and adventure was high.

Parents struggled to maintain the innocence of their children, despite a grim reminder of war, and the inequities of an adult world caught up in the emotion of the times. When a dollar of penny candy could fill your paper bag, baseball was king, and kids played outside well into the evening.

'A Two Pedal World-The Beginning,' morphs from a few kids playing and riding their old bikes to a 1,400 mile journey of a lifetime on bicycles in the book's sequel, 'A Two Pedal World--The Journey.'

"....set in liberated times where kids could be kids and grow up slowly. A very enjoyable read and I am now on to Book #2 of this wonderful series. 'A Two Pedal World--The Journey' --L. Calell, author of Disconnected

"The author describes each phase so well, you actually feel you are part of the story. Looking forward to reading the follow up." --Tom Elder

"A true story filled with nostalgia and reminiscent of the times. The author weaves an intricate tale that will keep you turning the pages." --D.G. Torrens, author of The Poppy Fields

"Great book, made you really think about what's important in life without all the electronic gadgets and gizmos." --Jill Wolfe

4.0 out of 5 stars A remembrance August 7, 2014

I enjoyed this tale of nostalgia and a look back at life. It kind of reminds me of the series on T.V. The wonder years. To me it is a beautifully written story of a beautifully remembered life. A lot of times people look back and don't remember the good things in life. It is refreshing to read this memoir and feel like you have stepped back in time to a happier and simpler life. Although we all remember our growing up years different, someone else may have remembered the same time as hard it is nice that the author saw it as fun. This is an enjoyable read and a great beginning.

5.0 out of 5 stars The beginning June 11, 2014

Paul Rega The Beginning.
A Two Pedal World.
This book was inspired by the novel Trail of 32, and if you read that fantastic book you will love this one. This book follows the growing up from youngster to teenager from the 50s to the 70s, when bicycles were mode of transport and their plaything.
I liked this book so much as the author describes each phase so well, you actually feel you are part of the story.
Looking forward to reading the follow up.
5 stars. 11 June 2014.

a good story about growing up in a much simpler and less paranoid time and also a tribute to the American shooting experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Two Pedal World - Must read, superb... May 7, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
If you have read the authors best selling book, Trail of 32, then this is a must read! It takes you right back to the beginning. A true story filled with nostalgia and reminiscent of the times. While reading this story I was taking back to my own childhood, when money was sparse and we all had to make do with whatever we had at hand. Kids played out in the streets and made up their own games! This is a truly great story, where bicycles take a group of boys on the most amazing adventure of a lifetime. If you are a fan of biographies and memoirs then you will love this as I did. The author weaves an intricate story that will keep you turning the pages. A beautifully written story. Highly recommended read...

5.0 out of 5 stars Rewind and step back in time!! June 22, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Having enjoyed Trail of 32: The True Story of a Youthful Spirit That Knew Not of Defeat so much and Paul Rega's nostalgic writing style - this book was a must for me. I was not disappointed as time rewound and I found myself back in a place where kids played outside with no concerns or fears. Sweets were a treat instead of an everyday expectation. Bikes were the only way to get around and helmets were not a necessity. This book is set in liberated times where kids could be kids and grow up slowly. A very enjoyable read and I am now on to Book Two of this wonderful series.A Two Pedal World: The Journey (Book #2)

Interesting but not a page turner. Story line moves slowly, but it is true to life. I enjoyed it but another book caught my attention and I did not quite make it to the end of this one

2.0 out of 5 stars Do Not Waste Your Time--Unless You're a Very Old Career Boy...
Well written, but the most boring book I ever read! From reading the summary, I thought this was the story of a scout troop that made a bicycle trip to Florida, some 1500 miles... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed in the ending
This book was just OK, I thought the book was going to be more an adventure in biking but it was more about boy scouts doing the 50s and 60s in a Chicago suburb. Read more
