Great album, but that track listing above is totally wrong. :) Here's the corrected list, and Amazon, you need to add a "Track listing" option to the corrections part of your website.

Just thought that was important. The album is awesome; the interplay between these two masters of the guitar is a rare thing to find. Ray Brown & Jake Hanna play bass & drums on a few tracks as well.

I was originally introduced to this recording in its vinyl form. I was employed at a local record store and a fellow employee played some cuts for me. The style and beauty stuck with me and when I saw its availability in CD form, I knew it had to be a part of my collection.

It was soon after I heard the record that Herb Ellis was playing at a local jazz club. I took my dad (I was 16 at the time) and the both of us were impressed by his technique and playing. What stood out even more, however was the class of Mr. Ellis. Between sets he went around to every table and made sure everyone was enjoying the show. He wrote down the names and titles of some other LP's that he thought I would like. I've seen many performers since then (I'm now 41) and I've yet to meet a musical artist with a combination of talent and class as Herb Ellis.

listen to the ease that these two thrash through some classics and a few improvised blues numbers and wonder why the hell you ever took up the instrument. listen closely and discern their individual styles, ellis playing staight chords while backing pass solos, pass distinctive backing (with single note runs and multiple chord forms) while ellis plays fluid solos. joe pass knows every possible chord form but how these guys manage to stay out of each others way amazes me with every playing.

This is a stellar recording of two very influential guitarists. There are no frills, here, just the bare esentials, Joe Pass and Herb Ellis and their guitars, swapping rhythm and lead. The only shortcomng is the length of the disc. I wish there were more of this pair.
