5.0 out of 5 stars A "Must Read" for Anyone That Cares About Middle East Peace
This clever solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is right on target. In Dr. Rothblatt's plan, everyone wins - America, Israel and Palestine. Israel's security concerns are overwhelmingly addressed. Palestinians would have a place to call home and be free. And, best of all, America would demonstrate, finally, that it cares and is willing to be even-handed...

2.0 out of 5 stars Is She Kidding?
What can this woman's voter registration be, Loony Party? Let's annex Pluto while we're at it! It would bring peace and prosperity and nation-building to millions of impoverished Plutonians, not to mention to Ms. Rothblatt herself. Two stars for Nuttiness.

As a Palestinian American, I can tell you that Palestinians dream of nothing other than to have the same basic human rights that we do here in the USA. This proposal would turn all Israeli and Palestinian energies from fighting to nation building. My two grandfathers were very proud to have left Palestine to serve in the US Army during WWI. They were even prouder to become American. If you could hear them from their graves at Arlington today, they would be shouting "Two Stars for Peace" NOW.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best solution ever suggested, July 17, 2004

This review is from: Two Stars for Peace: The Case for Using U.S. Statehood to Achieve Lasting Peace in the Middle East (Paperback)
The idea is well thought of and convincing.
As an Israeli I can testify that Israel almost functions as a US state (army, policy, support, interests). Adding the Palestinians into the circle could really bring relief and make it a place to be proud of. America will benefit as well. Israel will be one of the highest quality states to join the American union. The author thoroughly covers one aspect after another. The more you read you realize how the idea is simply genius.

5.0 out of 5 stars peaceful resolutions, July 13, 2004

This review is from: Two Stars for Peace: The Case for Using U.S. Statehood to Achieve Lasting Peace in the Middle East (Paperback)
In a world where everyone seems to be interested in what is wrong Dr. Rothblatt has offered a clear path to how we can make things right. The Two Star plan is the kind of out-of-the-box solution that our foriegn policy needs to adopt. This is more than a book, it is the kind of profession of justice that John Rawls would have loved to lived to see. The points are clear and the idea is classically American. Its a shame this was not written fifty years ago the whole world would be a much more peaceful place with American stability in the continental crossroads without forceful entry like we now have in Iraq.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stems from recognition that current measures have failed, June 12, 2004
This review is from: Two Stars for Peace: The Case for Using U.S. Statehood to Achieve Lasting Peace in the Middle East (Paperback)
Two Stars For Peace: The Case For Using U.S. Statehood To Achieve Lasting Peace In The Middle East presents a surprising yet persuasively argued proposal to bring peace to the middle east - by transforming Israel and Palestine into states of the United States of America. Walking through the practical realities of the problems that engender the Israel-Palestine conflict, and addressing varying perspectives and concerns for the proposed plan as well as a practical two-year timeline down to Israeli and Palestinian state constitution drafting, Two Stars For Peace may appear radical but in fact stems from deep-seated recognition that current measures have failed for fifty years and there is need for drastic, positive change. Even if the reader disagrees with its political recommendations, Two Stars For Peace is itself recommended for its insights into the dire ongoing Israel-Palestine crisis.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thinking "outside the box" creates unique solution., June 29, 2011
This review is from: Two Stars for Peace: The Case for Using U.S. Statehood to Achieve Lasting Peace in the Middle East (Paperback)
If you've followed the struggle between Israel and Palestine for any length of time, most likely you've relized that no previous solution addressed all of the outstanding issues. In "Two Stars for Peace", Martine does exactly that!

Her methodical and clearly written recommendations provide an easy to read road map for lasting peace in the Middle East.

Bravo, Martine!

4.0 out of 5 stars has potential ..., April 8, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
i enjoyed reading this book overall. the idea proposed offers some potential. the economic costs were not comprehensive but then costs were not off set by current foreign aid to israel or palestine. it would certainly give us a lasting presence in that region which could lead to greater security. given that terrorists cited u.s. footprint / so to speak / in saudi arabia the same opinion would be cited if we incorporated palestine and israel / home to the shrine of the holy rock. interesting reading however. B plus and recommended used or kindle or library reading. not recommended scholarly reading.
