Editorial Reviews

Beginners Volume 1 offers the easiest and most thorough instruction for anyone wanting to learn the Texas Two-Step, the most popular country western dance outside of line dancing. Each volume is professional, easy to follow, designed for beginners and fun for everyone. With nearly 1½ hours of instruction and multiple camera views, Shawn and Joanna Trautman will build your confidence and have you dancing along with them... literally. The design of the curriculum and camera placement for the DVDs allows the leaders to do the EXACT movements that Shawn presents, and it allows the followers to mimic Joanna in real time without having to turn away from the screen. In addition, you'll also get to dance each dance with music alongside the instructors at the end of each section. This DVD covers everything from how to do quicks and slows, what the footwork is for both leaders and followers, how to properly use the four connection points, how to turn on corners, what drills are best for practicing on your own, the importance of stopping on the dance floor, how to do mirrored vines, wraps, torque turns, forward and back presentations and much more. With nearly two decades of experience, several World Champion students to their credit, and their newly published book Picture Yourself Dancing, Shawn and Joanna will demonstrate, explain, and teach you to lead and follow the Two-Step so you can dance anywhere with anyone, rather than just learning a single step that can only be done with your partner. This innovative DVD series teaches the most essential basic steps for beginners at a slow and steady pace, which is perfect for gift-giving to friends, family, co-workers, or yourself. This DVD is best used as a starting point that will help you quickly accelerate your way through the Two-Step Collection and/or Shawn Trautman's Dance Collection in its entirety where you'll have your choice of more than 20 highly-rated full-length dance lesson DVDs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Video!, March 20, 2006
This review is from: Two-Step for Beginners Volume 1 (Shawn Trautman's Dance Collection) (DVD)
My Husband and I both have two left feet and we never go dancing in public. After watching Shawn's video at home, we now surprise ourselves and our friends when we go out. It is so easy and fun to learn all of the steps. My husband and I always have a great time practicing old steps and learning new ones. We both highly recommend this video to anyone who wants to learn how to dance and learn hot new steps.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Review!, February 2, 2006
This review is from: Two-Step for Beginners Volume 1 (Shawn Trautman's Dance Collection) (DVD)
I really liked this video. He showed each step individually from each point of view. 1. for the leader 2. for the follower 3. both together. He showed the leader how to lead and the follower how to follow. The only thing that I think he could have done better is to do the steps to music at the end of each section.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Great DVD! -Two Step DVD Volume 1, September 26, 2005
This review is from: Two-Step for Beginners Volume 1 (Shawn Trautman's Dance Collection) (DVD)
I am shocked! I have to admit I didn't think I'd really learn anything from this DVD. After all I had tried several other companies DVD's and still couldn't dance. But I thought I'd try one more. Thank you Shawn! I'm dancing! Very easy to understand. If Shawn can teach me to dance... he can dang sure teach you!
