5.0 out of 5 stars true talent, June 30, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Two Ton Boa (Audio CD)
I first saw this band live in L.A. when they opened for L7. I knew nothing of them before, and after they finished their set I made a beeline for the sales booth to buy this EP. I find myself listening to it at least once a day. For starters, the instrumentation is very creative. Without the use of guitars, but rather two basses, this band manages to produce distinct and dynamic sounds in every song. Sherry Fraser's vocals range from deep wails to soprano choir girl (Just listen to her siren screams in "Bleeding Heart"). They have a sound of their own and none of their songs hold a dull moment. Instead of sounding repetative(you know, those albums where the whole thing might very well just be one very long song divided up), this cd offers a variety of styles from the upbeat "Comin' Up From Behind" to the more somber "Puppet Charm" and to the accoustic sounding "Have Mercy". The only negative thing that I can think of is that there are only 5 songs to enjoy on this cd. You can bet I'll be the first in line to buy their upcoming albums.

Sherry Fraser is now one of my top five female musicians, and Two Ton Boa as secured a place in my top 10 bands. If you enjoyed this cd...and you better...or may your life be declared forfeit. Check out Zog Bogbean, where Sherry started out with John Wozniak of Marcy Playground...there's a dreamy acoustic song written by Sherry called Here Comes Summer at the end of the cd. You can order it here: http://marcyplayground.net/media.html
enjoy my little droogies.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Pink Juggernaut, November 20, 2005

Listen to track number four and tell me this woman doesn't scare you. Then listen to the track, I think it's number one, where Ms. Fraser sings that "it's so nice to be a dopesick topless dancer," and you'll know why you should be scared of her. This lady's a hero in a world that doesn't deserve any.

4.0 out of 5 stars Haunting Voice, March 26, 2000
This review is from: Two Ton Boa (Audio CD)
Sherry Fraser has a spellbinding voice, like that of a fallen opera star. Haunting, to match the dark humor of the rest of the CD. This is also an albumn to be read, since its lyrics are as captivating as its music. A must-see-in-person band, because no CD could ever truly capture the intensity of her voice. You will place "Comin' Up From Behind" on repeat until your roomates beg you to stop. But grant them a little mercy and place "Bleeding Heart" on for a few hours.
