5.0 out of 5 stars A Very High Quality Time Travel Movie
This is a very underrated movie. As one who does a bit of re-enacting, the idea of time-traveling is an exciting thought. Of course, we all know that travel through time is impossible, at least in the way that the movies portray it. But re-enacting does give one the opportunity to experience the closest thing we have to time-traveling, and yet remain in the modern world...

3.0 out of 5 stars Love the movie but the DVD is crap
This has to be bootleg copy. I ordered two copies, one for an old college roommate and one for myself. We watched this together when it first aired on TV and wanted to share the experience. Unfortunately, I didn't play the DVD right away, we were planning a night to watch it together, she in the Midwest and me on the East Coast. Well, just tried to watch the DVD and...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very High Quality Time Travel Movie, April 18, 2004
This is a very underrated movie. As one who does a bit of re-enacting, the idea of time-traveling is an exciting thought. Of course, we all know that travel through time is impossible, at least in the way that the movies portray it. But re-enacting does give one the opportunity to experience the closest thing we have to time-traveling, and yet remain in the modern world as well.
That's kind of like The Two Worlds of Jennie Logan. She can come and go through time as she pleases, and once she figures this out, she uses this ability to find the kind of life she's been longing for, including true love. (Many of the other reviews here have already given the synopsis of the story).
A chick flick? Yeah...it is. But, it seems most guy flicks do not deal with this subject with the reverence that the chick flicks do, although there are excellent examples of what can be done to please both sexes when they put their mind to it, such as The Final Countdown (guy orientd, but my wife and my mother both love this movie), Frequency (not really time travel, per se, but still in that catagory), and Kate & Leopold (a movie for everyone!). The Two Worlds of Jennie Logan is closer to Somewhere In Time and The Love Letter when it comes to time-travel movies. There's a realistic quality to Jennie's reaction when she finds herself, at first unknowingly, transported to the past. We all feel her confusion and fright at her experience. But then, once she has realized what was happening and what she was able to do, she takes baby steps in her exploration of her portal to another time, pandora's box now opened.
The movie plays out with a realistic tone, and the ending leaves the viewer without a sense of loss. Actually, the ending to this movie is perfect.
Now, like the other reviewers, I'd like to know where the DVD of this movie is. With all the crap out there on the shelves, why must we have to wait for the quality releases?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great movie - time travel love story, March 16, 2002
By
Carol A. Dawson "EEO GUIDANCE" (Jeffersonville, IN United States) - See all my reviews
I have not seen this movie in years...probably since it was first released in 1978 (made for television move, I believe). I have often talked about it to people, but couldn't recall the title. Nobody else seemed to recall seeing it...until tonight - while talking with a neighbor, she and I began talking about movies we like and she mentioned her enjoyment of time travel stories (love stories, in particular)...she began describing a movie she liked, starring "the Bionic Woman"...between the two of us, we got close enough to the title to find it here. I thought the movie was a beautiful story of love so strong that it crossed all boundaries of time. It was an emotional story of love, loss, and promises. I highly recommend it. Lindsay Wagner is a fine actress, and is wonderfully convincing in this part.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Movie, but beware amature DVD copies, January 8, 2005
By
I have loved this movie since I first saw it on TV. I'm also a big fan of Lindsay Wagner. For years I have been looking for a VHS tape of this title. So you can imagine my amazement when I found it at a zshop as a DVD. I know that many DVD titles are produced overseas and not released here. So I thought I had struck gold. $39.99 was expensive but some of the VHS's advertized are nearly that much. I was quite disappointed upon receiving it to see that it was obviously a amature DVD copy of a VHS tape. No menu or chapters just the movie. Hey I'm happy to have the copy. It's as good as a tape, but just a word of warning, if you can get it cheaper as a tape buy it that way.

5.0 out of 5 stars an old favorite, March 29, 2003
By A Customer
I first saw this as a TV-movie on Halloween years ago and was really taken by it. Of course, I was ten at the time, but even at thirty-five, I still really like this somewhat cornball but wonderfully spooky and heartfelt time-travel romance. Lindsay Wagner was great as the heroine who discovers a dress that magically drags her back into the past. I really liked the theme of sad people finding each other and bringing comfort to each other through new love, as well as the time-travel theme. Highly recommended.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Well, just tried to watch the DVD and it won't load. Has a funny swirl pattern on the disc. It's pretty much useless and it's been too long since I've ordered so I don't qualify for a replacement. What a disappointment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smart, Romantic, Time Travel - the ultimate Chick Flick, July 19, 2005
By
I have no idea why this movie is so hard to find. Everyone that I know who has seen it, loves it. It's well worth the effort to find it. It's not a major release, so some of the production value leaves something to be desired, but the story is beautiful. Lindsey Wagner is perfect in the role of Jenny, bringing a special sense of romance and intelligence to the part. I can't imagine anyone else in this role. Marc Singer is the sexiest he's ever been in his role as a tortured painter from a bygone era, who draws Jenny back into the past. If you feel like falling in love, this is your movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lindsay Wagner at her best, November 18, 2002
By
I've watched Ms. Wagner's career for 30 years now, and my favorite film of hers is "The Two Worlds of Jennie Logan." Period costumes, time travel, true love, a satisfying ending... what's not to like? If it ever comes out on DVD, I'll buy it immediately. HINT HINT!

5.0 out of 5 stars if you love romance watch this, January 4, 2002
By A Customer
I first watched this film many years ago, and have spent the last few years trying to find it on video. I have always remembered it. If you like romantic films with a touch of fantasy, mixed with period drama and modern living, then you'll love this film.

5.0 out of 5 stars Based On My Favorite Novel (which is also hard to find), December 30, 2005
By
Angelaustin (Elkhart, IN United States) - See all my reviews
I saw this movie the very first time it aired on TV and fell in love with it. I've been fortunate enough to have found a copy of it on VHS, but just like everyone else, I too would like to see it released on DVD. Yes, there are a few moments that are a tad on the syrupy side, but all in all this is a great film. Time travel has always been a fascinating subject to me, and this is my favorite. I like this much better than "Somewhere in Time", which has been brought out on DVD, so why not this one? Is it because this was a TV movie and "Somewhere in Time" was a theatrical release? UPDATE: This now available on DVD right here on Amazon!
After the movie aired, I bought a paperback copy of the book it is based on: Second Sight by David Williams. Unfortunately, I lost the book in all of the moving I've done over the years, but was lucky enough to obtain a hardback copy at a reasonable price. Even the paperback goes for a very high price. The book has become my all-time favorite novel. If you liked the movie, and can get your hands on a copy of the book, by all means read it! Some libraries still have copies, so maybe you can find it there. While it differs in some of the details, it is every bit as good (even more so, in my opinion) as the movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars DVD of this hauntingly lovely film, please, June 30, 2005
By
Lori Y "lori y" (Harrisburg, PA, USA) - See all my reviews
I tracked down this hauntingly lovely film on video 15 years after I first saw it on tv. Memorable? Yes, you could say that. The lovely theme music, the set and location, the paintings, and the period costumes set a lovely background for the storyline, the believable performances, the heart touching outcome. This humble little film has been vastly overlooked. This gem should have come to DVD before many of the current block buster-budgeted movies which tanked at the box office....pardon me for the pun, but "isn't it about time...?" One of your many future DVD customers.
