Produced by Sean O'Dwyer (who has engineered on projects by Blink 182 and Green Day) and featuring the serious guitar chops of new member Mark Lacasse, Ghoti Hook has made a record that rocks with energy and creativity. Lyrically, it speaks honestly of the hurt and struggle to love and be loved. While making spiritual allusions here and there, it's on "Mach 3" that the band directly addresses a request to God. "Chevy Nova" is another rock song celebrating automobiles, and "Vs.," like MxPx's "Foolish," addresses folks who would write off the band merely because its members are Christians.
An artful rock record, Ghoti Hook has not made Two Years to Never so that it fits any particular definition of Christian music. Rather, it has made a gritty statement of how life is, one that punk and rock fans will respect and enjoy, and that will move the band toward larger general acceptance. -- Brian Q. Newcomb (c) 2000 CCM Communications, Inc.

I can't see how people can bag on this album so much. In my honest opinion, Sumo Surprise rocked, Banana Man was just a rehash, Songs We Didn't Write showed evidence of the band maturing musically, and Two Years To Never continued that. They aren't punk, but MxPx is?... "Uh oh, not every song on their album sounds the same! Geez, they must not be punk anymore!" Grow up. If showing signs of musical talent means a band isn't punk, then screw punk (or at least, your definition of punk). I liked this album just as much as Sumo Surprise, and I loved the distinction between the two. They didn't switch genres or anything as extreme as some of these others would have you think, they just added some new stuff to their sound.Bottom line: Two Years To Never is good. I think you'll enjoy it.

It's extremely sad that Ghoti Hook broke up. This is one of my favorite albums released by Ghoti Hook. Alot of people were upset that Ghoti Hook switched from punk rock, to a more alternative type sound. I, myself, think the change is great. They sound great. I also highly recomend Ghoti Hook's final release, which was an EP released with Velvet Blue Music. You can purchase it at velvetbluemusic.com

I got this album as soon as i could. I was expecting some more rock stuff, but when i got this album it was a lot different than I expected. It wasnt 80's rock like i expected, but a more mellow, yet fun modern rock sound. I wasnt dissapointed at all. Joel Bell's emotional vocals really got to me, along with Mark's great guitar. Its a little softer, but shows great effort and lots of great talent. they didn't sell out, and they are not pleasing as many punk fans anymore. It's not my style, but im not going to get into saying this is crap just because I have a bias. It is skillfully played with a few beautiful medleys.Overall, an average album.
