4.0 out of 5 stars Double Jeopardy, July 14, 2008
This review is from: Two fold (Paperback)
Two Fold is a fast- paced drama set in the inner city of Spanish Harlem, NY. Twin brothers Devon and Damion appear identical, but their personalities could not be more contrary. One is deep in the street life while the other makes a respectable living working out of a Wall Street type office. When mistaken identity puts one brother in jail for defending the other, a plan is put into motion to get him released. When the twin's mother (and former hustler herself) Jaz gets wind of the scheme, she decides to go back to her old ways and call in her old crew aka The Geehies. Damion's new love interest has no idea about the twin's plan and she inadvertently gets caught up in the mix. This could be a formula for disaster as Jaz will stop at nothing to protect her sons.

The storyline was good and this could easily have been a five star book. The lack of editing which included grammatical errors and strangely, the absence of page numbers are the main reasons for my chosen rating. As with any craft, the more you experience the better you become, and I expect to see finer attention to detail in this author's next literary contribution.

4.0 out of 5 stars AAMBC Book Reviews, September 29, 2009
This review is from: Two fold (Paperback)
This book got my attention from the beginning. She is very descriptive about her characters. She led me into the world of her story. This story was captivating I felt as if I was there. Right in the midst of all the drama. I just wish she added a little more details about the story. This book had me on the edge of my bed. It truly tells how strong a relationship between two twin brothers is. Their relationship is tried and tested. But through all the trials and tribulations they stood strong. They even do something so risky it could have caused both their lives to be over. This book makes you wonder and see how strong family is in the midst of trouble.

5.0 out of 5 stars passionate reader from da boogie down bronx, July 3, 2008
This review is from: Two fold (Paperback)
Who said a female can't Hustle, rather its in the streets, music or literary industry. Sexy defines a true female Hustler. She not only make sure that her books are selling, but also her author's books. Sexy did a excellent job with this book. I had a chance to sit down and have a convo with this amazing author. Sexy is very down to earth but extremely passionate about her writing. I have yet to meet a publisher that gets so excited when she speaks about when she signed her first author Carmen. TwoFold had so many twist and turns that at the end your left wondering whats going to happen next. Here's a little something to quench your thirst...

How can two brothers be so different and yet so much alike?

That was the first thing that caught my eyes from this book. You sit there and wonder, is it possible, can it be? Or is it, that these two brothers are exactly alike, and theres no differences in them at all. Damion, ask that questions so many times, through out the years. He can remember walking to and from school with great expectations of one day making it out of the projects. Instead of making the trip out of the projects, he's making the trip to Sing Sing Correctional Facility, visiting Devon who is doing a 25 to life bid. Jaz (the mother), raised both of her boys in the hood, worked two jobs, and sometimes did without extra funds she was use to making in the streets. Jaz wanted her sons to grow up with values. She wanted her sons to grow up with values, and not want them to be in the streets hustling.

Sexy succeeds with this cautionary tale to the youth coming up today who see music videos and rappers and aspire to what they think is thug life. As we all know, Tupac had the words "Thug Life" tattooed on his stomach only a few years before his short life ended in a haze of bullets. Sexy tells us how the story ends in the title alone, but in this case, it's about the journey-a journey that you will definitely want to go on. The million dollar question to this is, would I recommend this book to anyone?

Well, to be perfectly honest, and fair to all the consumers, avid readers, passionate readers, I would have to say Yes, I would definitely recommend this book. Sexy will be on her way to main stream surely but shortely. If you haven't picked up this book, then what are you waiting for, hurry up... You won't regret it!!

Now since I can't hold this review for hostage any longer, since I finally got Sexy to signed my copy... Go out and get yours...
