5.0 out of 5 stars Sho 'Nuf, December 20, 2008

Having very little listening experience with the sho, but being very familiar with the playing of Christina Fong, I wasn't sure exactly what to expect from this (which is a good thing, expectations can be a prison). What I found was that Ms. Fong's playing of John Cage is as exquisite as ever (I have been fortunate enough to see her play the solo violin music of John Cage live) and the sho is an exceptional instrument for interpreting this music also. A must-have for all fans of John Cage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Two3 et al from OgreOgress Productions, December 2, 2008

For anyone that's into the music of John Cage, this is an incredible new addition to the sparse collection of his recordings that are available. I believe it's the first time Two3 has ever been recorded as composed, it's certainly the first time anyone released a recording of it anyway. And that makes it a "must have" for serious Cage collectors. The recording quality from OgreOgress is, as always, superb.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful disc, but NOT actually DVD Audio standard it would seem, March 16, 2010

I do not wish to detract at all from the delights of this disc, its presentation or packaging, all of which I consider exemplary. The playing is just so much in tune with Cage's ethic. Congratulations and thanks to all concerned. Just one little point: the disc is flagged up by my DVD Audio deck as being made to the DVD Video standard, albeit 96/24 two channel PCM. No surround layer is claimed for the disc and I for one do not miss it, but it does seem that someone involved in the production has got their DVD standards confused a bit. On a DVD Audio standard disc, for instance, you can fast forward or reverse through a track. On this DVD Video standard disc (audio and still graphic only) on many players you can't, though who would want to?

Never mind what might be seen as a pedantic point on DVD standard nomenclature. This is a wonderful disc and I would urge all interested in Cage's muse to get hold of it.

Thank you Glenn Freeman (who sent it via Amazon Marketplace) and friends.
