5.0 out of 5 stars BEST CHRISTIAN ROCK ALBUM OF 2000 (BY FAR)..., April 30, 2000
By Josh Mercier (South Florida) - See all my reviews
OK, I'm telling you, drop everything you're doing right now and buy this awesome CD. Songs like "AM" and "Forevermind" rock out and get your head bobbing. I don't know why people think these guys sound like Limp Bizkit, cause they absolutely DO NOT! The secular band they most sound like is 311, but PAX217 has a unique sound all their own. Unlike bands like POD and Project 86, who often don't sing very much in their songs (they scream and yell), Dave Tosti of PAX has a great voice. However, the band can still throw in a lot of intensity. The guitar and bass work is excellent, and the drum work is some of the best I've heard in a while. Great songs on this CD include the two I've already mentioned, "Prizm", "No Place Like Home", "Gratitude", and "Skwid". No lie, there are no weak tracks on this CD. If this band doesn't win a Dove Award for Hard Rock Album of the Year, it will be a crime.

4.0 out of 5 stars don't be fooled by the record label, this band rocks hard, July 12, 2000
By Lauren (Murfreesboro, TN) - See all my reviews
This cd spins in my car all day. It is extremely well-produced, well-played, and well-arranged hard rock.

The lyrics are not extremely deep all the time, but they discuss things that young people think about and deal with everyday. The two most personal tracks on the album are "No Place Like Home" and "Skwid," which discuss how children of divorce face life without an intact family. Other tracks deal with fame, the loss of childhood innocence, and several kinds of love.

The style of music mixes elements of punk, hard rock, ska, reggae, funk, and hip-hop to create a sound that is never over-done, but instead sounds new with every song.

i hate to compare it to other bands, but if you enjoy Red Hot Chili Peppers, Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock, 311, Eminem, or just like good, fun rock and hip-hop you'd probably like this one. if you don't like rap at all then you'd probably enjoy a few of the tracks, but it is generally hip-hop-heavy.

The absence of offensive lyrics, and the presence of a positive message are also huge pluses for twoseventeen.

These kids are amazingly talented so its hard to believe this is just a debut. i can't wait for their sophomore effort, but for now i'll just enjoy twoseventeen 'til i wear out the disk.

5.0 out of 5 stars No regrets!, July 3, 2000
By Chris Heeter (Central Ohio) - See all my reviews
I used to like secular bands like Korn, Limp Bizkit and 311. Then when I heard Pax217 on a Christian radio station, I was amazed at how much they sounded like 311! then I looked more into Christian music. I threw away all of my secular CDs and went out to buy the Pax217 CD. When I listened to it for he first time, I thought that 311 changed their name or something because A.M. sounds so much like 311, it's freaky. I can't stop listening to Pax217 now. They are definitly my favorite Christian band ever. I haven't taken them out of my CD player since. I love the songs A.M., Prizm, No Place Like Home, and Gratitude. If you like 311, I encourage you to buy Pax217's CD and throw out all or your secular CD's, because once you hear Pax217, you won't need 311.
