It's quite surprising, to me, that EA Games would sell Ty 2:Bush Rescue at such a low price. Most gamers would think that a new game being sold at such a low price is probably a dud but it is anything but. In my opinion, EA probably did that to compete with other triple-A titles out there this holiday season. Why not? Ty needs some good exposure. This likable fella's first game had alot of potential(so much so that I said it excels as an action-platformer). It was overlooked by the majority of gamers out there and was, basically, picked up only by hardcore Platformer fans like me. Admittedly, it didn't offer anything new to the genre and it wasn't very original but it was a great platform game, nonetheless. This game shows even more potential. The game picks up where the original left off, with Boss Cass breaking out of Currawong Jail and hatching a plan to take over the world with an army of Uber Reptiles. Ty and his new team, the Burramudgee Bush Rescue, must stop him. Taking a pinch of the Jak II-esque 'Grand Theft Auto' level design, this game is a huge improvement over the original. Like before, Presentation and plot are top notch as well as gameplay and control. You'll chase down enemies in suped-up land and air vehicles, battle in high-tech Mechs, and more. You can even purchase weapon upgrades all in the effort to take back the Outback. I gotta' hand it to EA Games...they took it up a notch this time around. I'm impressed.
Here's hoping that we see a third game from EA, in the future. Ty is a blast!

I had to replace this game because my son scratched the other one and it wouldn't go past a certain area. I love this game! It's so much fun, me and my son take turns at doing the missions or just going around getting opals to buy new rangs. A must have for gamers with or without kids!

Though the rating doesn't agree, I fail to see what is so special about Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue. The consensus seems to be that this is a well-crafted, entry-level platformer from EA, but I cannot bring myself to heap such praise upon this game. While it doesn't look bad in the traditional sense, the graphics are certainly dated, and the kid-centric story leaves a lot to be desired. It's true that people don't play platformers (for the most part) for the engaging storylines. Still, Ty 2 has massive problems in the gameplay department, the most glaring being that it's not all that fun to play. There's a ton of variety here - from the twenty-one different boomerang types you can collect, to the mech, helicopter, and racing levels -but the game still has a short length, and suffers from the "jack of all trades, master of none" curse. Is Ty 2 a good game for kids? It's decent, but you could do much better. The twenty dollar price point ensures you won't hate yourself in the morning if you do pick this up, but that money could (and should) go towards the purchase of one of this season's far superior platform games.

Ty is Back!,
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue (Video Game)
This is the sequel to Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, a collecting game with a similar vibe to games like Super Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64. The game's story is that Cass is back! One of the bosses from the prequel with the name of Fluffy busts him out. So Ty makes a group with friends called Bush Resucue. Basically what has happened is Cass set up his own country so he could have diplomatic immunity. Instead of being another collecting game this game is a mission based game taking the turn that the Jak & Daxter series did for their sequel. This game has about 45 missions with A LOT of collectibles that's comparable to Donkey Kong 64 and the difficulty of finding them is definately harder than the base game itself without the collectibles, the collectibles are definately the factor that make this game difficult. The game takes an average 3-5 hours to beat the normal story but I'd say would take about 12 hours total if you were to get all the collectibles. This game also features something the prequel didn't multiplayer, a Mario Kart like racing game which is something you can do with friends if one of you guys get bored of watching you play it or something. The camera was a problem in the first game, and unfortunately they didn't fix it in this game either. This game is a great game A LOT of fun to play and has pretty good graphics despite having average voice acting I like it. Something else I love about the game is its music! The music is very carefree and relaxing to listen to it and you hear it rarely so much that you like it everytime you hear it! (Well I could've gone without the cave music) This game is pretty good and will keep you busy for a few weeks I definately recommend a buy on this game considering you can get a GOOD condition disc for about 10$ (About 5 for a decentish disc). This is a good game but I also like the prequel slightly better.Score: Gameplay: 9/10 Controls: 6/10 Story: 7/10 Music: 10/10 Multiplayer: 6/10 Overall: 8.5/10

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue for the GameCube picks up where Ty left off. You've got an Ausssie-style Tiger on platforming style wild adventures.
I really enjoyed the first Ty game so I had high hopes coming into this one. The game certainly kicks off instantly. There's no training, no prologue - you're just dumped into an emergency situation and are off and running. You're bashing, jumping, racing, trying to take out the bad guys. Unfortunately, the balance is not well done. I heard from several people that they got stuck on this entry level! The mech battle involves you shooting down robots and flying ships. If you just focus on the robots (at their heads) you do fine - but if you try to take out both sets of enemies you're pretty much doomed to replaying over and over again. This is part of the flaw I find with this new game. It has the cute music - but the balance with the voices is so bad at times that I found myself relying on the subtitles to know what was being said. At other times the music is really annoying and makes me want to turn it off. Sometimes the enemies are fun to bash away at. At other times there are just too many and it feels frustrating. The game is aimed at kids which is why these things bother me. This is supposed to be meant for youngsters who perhaps are playing their first platformer game and need friendly help in getting started. The characters are friendly enough - your "team" offers you warm encouragement - but the gameplay itself can easily prove quite frustrating (as proven by the email messages I get about this). Cute graphics and an engaging Aussie accent just can't make up for gameplay problems like this. I do agree it's fun to play with different boomerangs, to drive around in a mech and to experience the wonders of an Australian world. I give them a lot of credit. I'll give them a 4/5 for that. I just think more play-testing time would have ironed out some of these issues. |
