4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Battery for an Excellent Toy!
The Shell Shocker is the coolest land-based RC toy I've played with since, well ever. 3.0 out of 5 stars Flexpak Dies Too Quick!
After charging and using the flexpak in the shell shocker a few times, we could not recharge it. Common problem in the past, I thought by now it would be fixed, guess not. A real bummer.

I purchased this review unit myself, and once I got it home realized I misread the packaging - to me it seemed that you could purchase an extra battery pack if you wanted to, but it was not 100% crystal clear that I needed to buy one of these separately. Some people are going to be turned off when they realize that they need to purchase a $30 battery for a toy they already spent $60 for - trust me when I realized I had to go back to the store I was right there with ya. Once you get the battery charged and start playing though, all that frustration will disappear.

We love the shell shocker. The battery pack doesn't last as long as we expected and it is difficult to tell when it is recharged. Also it is a little difficult to remove or replace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shell Shocker - Good fun, lots of laughs, durable, January 30, 2006

The Shell Shocker is fun, durable and the battery pack has a good long charge. The only down side is that it takes four hours to recharge the battery, making it difficult for kids to wait for the next round of fun!

The biggest waste of money. My son was thrilled upon opening The Shell-Shocker Christmas morning. Until we tried to set it up. First came disapointment at having to wait a day to buy this special battery. Next came frustration with the total lack of stock. Wallmart had none anywhere in the store. I have been told by other parents via email that the battery will be un avilable for at least a month. Now comes anger at Tyco and their blatant mis-representation of this product. I will never again buy anything from this company and I am composing a mass email to all the parents I know, warning them of Tycos customer service and calling for a boycott.

1.0 out of 5 stars Battered for Batteries, January 17, 2006

First, I didn't, nor would I ever buy my son a $70.00 "TOY," even though he wanted one. I did get him an R/C car though. Actually my wife bought it and fortunately I read the box and realized that she hadn't purchased the required battery. The same battery that is used for the "Shell Shocker." Consequently we are now saving the R/C car for his birthday in February. Hopefully we can find the required battery by then, otherwise, it will be a "Graduation from Kindergarten" gift. It's January 17th and I still can't find one in any store, or on any website.

3.0 out of 5 stars Misleading Product Information, December 31, 2005

Only after getting the toy home and opened by our son did we realize the charger and battery were not included. We had read the box information at the store and thought we knew what we were getting. Actually, we thought the charger was included (especially after such a large purchase price!) but that we might have to buy a battery, because that's the way of the toy world--batteries are rarely included in anything. Anyway, we were disappointed. A careful re-reading of the box information does in fact say these items are purchased separately, so we admit we made a mistake. But we feel Tyco did not help the situation. Our suggestion is that all these products should have been on the same shelf at the store to show the toy's requirements more clearly, because you can't use one without the other. Or better yet, the toy and charger and battery should be sold as an entire unit because you can't use one without the other. We understand the Shell Shocker was in high demand this Christmas and it was difficult to find. We wonder how many other parents are as frustrated as we are?

2.0 out of 5 stars Shell Shocker, February 5, 2007
This review is from: Tyco® Pro Flexpak® Battery Pack & Charger (Toy)
As the other reviewers have stated, what a crock regarding the need to purchase a battery and charger separate from the toy. My boy opened the box on Christmas afternoon and shredded the box and styrofoam getting at the prized toy. He came to me and wanted me to make it work. Since he had been in another room, I was getting frustrated with him wanting to know where the rest of stuff was (the specialized battery and charger). He kept saying that was all in box. Upon piecing the jigsaw puzzled box of cardboard back together I saw in a small highlighted caption on the lower corner of the box (Battery and Charger sold separately.) Over the past couple of weeks we have looked at different stores for the battery/charger. At first we thought, no problem, but now it has become apparent that this $60.00 toy might be best used as an anchor. The Toys R Us sales representative we talked to this weekend said they had 85 Shockers at another location, but no battery/chargers shown at any of their local stores. We are in the DFW area mind you. He said to look on-line, but "good luck" was his final parting shot. I am trying to remain calm about my new anchor, but I do not have a boat.
