This review is from: Tyconius: The Book of Rules (Paperback)
This book was recommended by Augustine of Hippo.Tyconius was of the Donatist party, however little about him really seems Donatist. In any case, this book he wrote gives seven rules of interpretation of Scripture, they are as follows: I. The Lord and His Body II. The Lord's Bipartite Body III. The Promises of the Law IV. The Particular and the General V. Times VI. Recapitulation VII. The Devil and His Body Much of these rules are really just different applications of "The Particular and the General" where a part represents a whole or a whole means a part. While in the main I agree with the rules it seems that the proofs of exegesis from Scriptural verses seem like rather weak arguments and could have been replaced with Scripture much more apparently amenable to his purposes. I also can say that some of Tyconius' ecclesiological insights are quite interesting.
