As a huge fan of all things zoo and animal, I took a gamble on this game in hopes of reigniting my childhood passions. I was pleasantly surprised to find Zoo Tycoon 2: Extinct Animals was actually a lot of fun for a kids game. At my age it isn't really a challenge at all, but the fanciful nature of the gaming system and antics of the animals are fun to watch and unfold as you build your dream zoo. I was impressed to notice that both male and female animals have different looks, and some of the dinosaurs even have feathers. Someone was doing their research at Microsoft. I'd definitely recommend this game for younger kids who want to learn more about extinct animals and anyone else who just loves animals.

I actually liked zoo tycoon 1 better than zoo tycoon 2, simply becuase it had more content. However, the expansion packs like endangered species and african advewnture add to it. Of all the expansion packs i looked forward to the extinct animals the most. It is good they have both dinosaurs and other extinct animals, however i wish they would have more dinosaurs and a larger variety. They were all kindof similar. However, this game is still fun, and easy if you stick to freeform games, for the younger players. The minigames are a great addition, especially being able to chase escaped dinos yourself. I think the graphics need to be updated, but it is still fun to walk around (or drive in a jeep) next to dinosaurs

I love zoo tycoon and couldn't wait for this game to come out I was so excited when I got it. It's a ton of fun-but the prices for the animals are a bit out of proportion ( 3,000 dollars for a dodo?) But they soon pay for themselves in donations, or you can make them for free at the extinct research lab. It's also fun to take care of them and overall have them at your zoo. Another big plus is the entertainers that eliminate the guest amuzement issue. It's a great game and any zoo tycoon 2 fan needs to get it.

I bought this for my son who is 11. He loves the games. I thought I had read the description thoroughly so did not realize that I needed the basic Zoo Tycoon 2 before I could get these specialty Zoo Tycoons like Extinct Animals or Marine Animals,etc. Fun game. Just need to get ALL the goods you need. (which does, of course, increase your cost)

It rocks! You can get dinos and extinct birds, plus several adorable mammals, including thylacines(striped marsupial dogs), warrahs(fox-like), short-faced bears and more! You can cure dinosaur diseases by indentifying the cause, then you have to find two things for a cure. The cloning mini-game is my favorite part!

I am a Grandma who enjoys playing Zoo Tycoon 2. I was introduced to it by a grand daughter a few years ago. It is the only computer game I play other than the usual solitare games. It is a fascinating and educational game. Also if you want to earn goodies the challenges and campaigns are not easy. But I also do the freeform games. I have even introduced my 4-5 year old grandson to it. He loves being able to drive the jeeps and really enjoys taking pictures. I think this would be a good game to be in the schools possibly. It teaches about animals and where they live etc.

This was in BRAND NEW condition, never opened, and worked great! also shipped very fast. I already had Zoo Tycoon 2 and this expansion makes it even more fun to create and then walk around my own zoo and see the extinct animals along with the others.

So far I have all the zoo tycoon games. from the endangered species and the marine mania and safari adventure and the ultimate collection. but over all of them I like this one the most. If you are spying around the house then you will never see me playing another game then this one. But if you like you can get animals free ether at the extinct reseach lab or the freestyle game. but it's up to you! ether if you want to spend money or if you just want to keep the money! so get it don't miss it!

My kids have really enjoyed this game. It also let's them learn about animals and reptiles of the past.

While I have not played this game myself :), I can attest that it is well loved by our two grandsons for whom the pack was purchased. They are and 8- and an almost 11-year-old. Our son had passed on it being acceptable for the boys and that it was a pack that engendered creative thinking. We're glad that we got them something they really wanted and would enjoy. We also got the Marine pack which was also appreciated.
