Cyndi Lauper like you've never heard her!, April 18, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Tycoon (Audio CD)
This French musical never got staged over here, despite this calling card of international pop stars covering the songs (lyrics by Andrew Lloyd Webber contributer, Tim Rice). Cyndi is positively operatic on the score's two loveliest songs, and by the same suprise, Celine Dion is muted on her two turns!
Pop chestnuts Tom Jones and Ronnie Spector reveal why they were considered great in the first place, and one-hit-wonder ("Bette Davis Eyes"), Kim Carnes, proves not only that she can sing, but with feeling. Terrific!

Artist From the Record, June 21, 2006
This review is from: Tycoon (Audio CD)
I am struggling w/the almost $50 price tag. I should be getting more royalties! ha ha.
The most incredible track on this record is by far Celine Dion's rendition of "Tonight We Dance!" Nina Hagen's song is a favorite too along w/"Ego Trip!"
Even though I am singing it, "Pollution's Child" is my least favorite from the record. Just being honest.
Enjoy.

Worth the price just for Peter Kingsbery, October 6, 2006
This review is from: Tycoon (Audio CD)
I bought this album some years ago and have enjoyed listening to Peter Kingsbery singing Only the very best. It is an unbelievable song with an almost two and a half octave range required. I have not felt the same about any other song on the album but that song along is worth the price.
