I am not a romance fan, but I do enjoy a book that has a good plot, with romance intertwined. When I first began reading Melody Anne's book, I ended up being engrossed in the story right away. The love scenes are written very tastefully. I only had a short time to read it when I first picked it up. The next time, however, I poured myself a nice glass of wine, grabbed a blanket and started to read, not even realizing how the time was flying. I get pretty frustrated when an author takes too much time to get to certain areas of a plot. Melody Anne knew exactly when to add the twists to the story, making it flow just right. Derek is lovely! I could easily picture the characters, the environment...I could even feel the frustration of Derek and Jasmine. And yes, I still hate David lol. The few romance books that I did read, just turned me off due to the trashiness. But Melody Anne knows exactly how to write those scenes, and is a wonderful story teller. So, now I'm hooked! I will be ordering the rest of this series, and can honestly say, she has a fan in me. This isn't a long read, but I was grateful for not having to skim through filler words that authors frequently use, just to get the book size up there. Good job, Melody Anne!!!

The grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors in this book are embarrassing for the author, in my opinion. It doesn't take an editor to know that the plural of employee is NOT "employee's." (It showed up very many times, so it wasn't a one-off typo.) It doesn't take an editor to know that "she seen him" is NOT correct. (It was used in the narrative, not in the dialogue.) I could give many, many more examples, but I'll spare you. I was dying to get out a red pen and mark it up.

In my opinion, the writing was extremely amateurish; I felt like an 9th grade girl wrote it. It was HEAVY on description (and not very interesting description), so I found myself skipping several paragraphs at a time. I called it quits at about the half-way point, and deleted it from my Kindle. I only made it that far, because I'm the type to always finish a book, even when I don't really care for it. Unfortunately, I just wasn't invested in any of the characters, and was much too distracted by all of the errors to finish this one. So I guess I *almost* always finish a book.

The plot *could* show some promise, I suppose...but it would need a major rewrite.

I read this book in one sitting I was all giddy when I completed this story that I bought the others in this series. I absolutely love the passion in this story it was steamy w/the right amount of mmmhhmm in it. I really like that the author has several ebooks that are reasonable priced. I do believe I got this one "free" during Christmas week. I will definately keep a look out for other ebooks by this author.

I rarely give one star but in this case, I must. This book has a pathetic heroine and a very nasty "hero". The plot is one which has been used many times, but can still be well executed without putting off the reader. Granted, romantic fiction is allowed to be fantasy, outlandish in some cases, stretching the bounds of possibility, but there must be some features which ring true. This one doesn't.

The hero's feat of becoming a billionaire from nothing in 10 years is unlikely, not to mention his two cousins becoming just as rich.

His ferocious behaviour to the heroine is a total turn-off and her acceptance of his advances immediately she sees him suspends belief in view of how badly he treats her.

The writing is naive. Repetitious words and phrasing, awkward sentences and so many "...said" makes this book a hard read. A good editor should have sorted this out before publication.

This book made me angry! I purchased it because the storyline seemed like it would be a fun read over a long weekend. The "hero" Derek was an out and out jerk. Supposedly his high school sweety injured his little feelings when she was 17 or 18 and he just could not get over it. He uses his "shark-like" business sense to destroy her father's company because they were rich and he was not. The only crimes I could determine that Mr. Freeman was guilty of were: 1) Underpaying his employees, 2) Not providing health insurance for his employees, 3) Not wanting his teenaged daughter to run off to get married, 4) Being upset because his teenage daughter got pregnant and lastly, 5) Being rich. None of these things are unethical.

If Mr. Freeman was the one to strip and sell companies ruining countless lives in the process that would have been a great motive for revenge and would have made sense. But no, that was Derek's job title and the revenge is because he got his feelings hurt "way back when" in high school and was not adult enough to get over it and move on. The story kept sliding down hill for me when he found out he was a father. I give it to him on wanting to be a dad and be apart of the child's life and all, but the youngster walks in on mom in bed with a stranger (at tender age of 10 years old) and is EXCITED because said stranger claims to be his long lost dad.

If Derek had taken 2 minutes to think 10 years ago about why Jasmine had hurt him he would have seen then what he had to figure out later.

I am well aware that fiction stories usually have some unbelievable storyline meant to transport you into a world of fantasy and fun but this was just bad. You could not get lost in the story because it seemed like a rush job.
