I am not a romance fan, but I do enjoy a book that has a good plot, with romance intertwined. When I first began reading Melody Anne's book, I ended up being engrossed in the story right away. The love scenes are written very tastefully. I only had a short time to read it when I first picked it up. The next time, however, I poured myself a nice glass of wine, grabbed a blanket and started to read, not even realizing how the time was flying. I get pretty frustrated when an author takes too much time to get to certain areas of a plot. Melody Anne knew exactly when to add the twists to the story, making it flow just right. Derek is lovely! I could easily picture the characters, the environment...I could even feel the frustration of Derek and Jasmine. And yes, I still hate David lol. The few romance books that I did read, just turned me off due to the trashiness. But Melody Anne knows exactly how to write those scenes, and is a wonderful story teller. So, now I'm hooked! I will be ordering the rest of this series, and can honestly say, she has a fan in me. This isn't a long read, but I was grateful for not having to skim through filler words that authors frequently use, just to get the book size up there. Good job, Melody Anne!!!

The grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors in this book are embarrassing for the author, in my opinion. It doesn't take an editor to know that the plural of employee is NOT "employee's." (It showed up very many times, so it wasn't a one-off typo.) It doesn't take an editor to know that "she seen him" is NOT correct. (It was used in the narrative, not in the dialogue.) I could give many, many more examples, but I'll spare you. I was dying to get out a red pen and mark it up.

In my opinion, the writing was extremely amateurish; I felt like an 9th grade girl wrote it. It was HEAVY on description (and not very interesting description), so I found myself skipping several paragraphs at a time. I called it quits at about the half-way point, and deleted it from my Kindle. I only made it that far, because I'm the type to always finish a book, even when I don't really care for it. Unfortunately, I just wasn't invested in any of the characters, and was much too distracted by all of the errors to finish this one. So I guess I *almost* always finish a book.

The plot *could* show some promise, I suppose...but it would need a major rewrite.

Book starts out slow and tangled, with so many missed opportunities to add interesting twists and further develop the characters... Then, the final resolution to the "deep" issues comes so easy and fast it's laughable. Seems the writer realized she had enough pages for a "freebie" a rushed to wrap it up. The sex scenes are pretty much the same every time, and not all that hot.

To top it up, I had to resist the urge to take a red pen and make proofreading marks on my screen, and took more than a few deep breaths to get past the many typos and grammar mistakes, but when the writer called a couple of the main characters by the wrong name (Jessica instead of Jasmine, Trevor instead of Jacob, etc.), it was too much for me!

HELLO! Writing 101 is calling and saying you failed the course!
