5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Play and DVD!
This is really an excellent play. Madea's granddaughter is living with her following her divorce. She is shocked when she learns her sister Maylee is engaged to her recent ex-husband Anthony. Maylee is a hootchie more interested in men that her own 14 year old daughter who is living with Madea. This is such a hilarious--yet serious play. I don't want to be a spoiler...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but couldn't been better
This play was typical Tyler Perry filled with lots of gospel music, secular jokes, and of course Madea.

This story of two sisters, one engaged to the other's ex husband was interesting. Madea's interaction with both was heart warming considering her character.

David Mann as Madea's next door neighbor Mr. Brown is hilarious as always...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Play and DVD!, June 26, 2005
This review is from: Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself: The Play (DVD)
This is really an excellent play. Madea's granddaughter is living with her following her divorce. She is shocked when she learns her sister Maylee is engaged to her recent ex-husband Anthony. Maylee is a hootchie more interested in men that her own 14 year old daughter who is living with Madea. This is such a hilarious--yet serious play. I don't want to be a spoiler but the twists and turns of the storyline will keep you on your feet. The neighbor Mr. Brown provides comic relief. It's a great play and it although it's a comedy it addresses serious issues. YOu must check out the extras. The play includes a wonderful featurette with Tyler Perry providing some behind the scene details of this particular play. It seems the theater flooded prior to the performance and a Friday show had to be canceled. Tyler went out to speak to the crowd and signed autographs. He really felt bad about canceling the show due to the power being out because most of the fans didn't want a refund they wanted to see the show. "I Can Do Bad By Myself," also addresses some of the themes featured in the film "Diary of a Mad Black Woman," most noticibly a woman who has escaped a verbally abusive man who is hesitant to embrace real love. Another thing I enjoyed about this play is that the women look like real black women you might see anywhere and not just supermodels. They have average wigs and weave and are regular clothes. Great play and of course Madea is hilarious.

5.0 out of 5 stars RE: Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself, October 8, 2004
I really enjoy this movie. When it arrive I watch 3 day straight. The stars Tyler Perry as Madea a grandma who is the glue to the family. The two sisters Vianne and Mayline aren't getting along because Mayline is marrying Vianne's ex-husand Anthony. Vianne is stil hurt about the divorce and feelslike she will spend the rest of her life alone. Vianne realizes that God is in control. God will give her direction. Mayline realize that marrying her sister is wrong and doesn't go thtough with it. This play reminds of my great gramda who past away 9 years ago . She was the glue to maternal side of the family everytime I play it makes me think of her.

If you need a laugh I recommend all of Tyler Perry's DVDs. He is a very talented individual and all his dvds are very funny as they all give a message with much truth behind his characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars The funniest play he wrote yet!, November 26, 2005
This review is from: Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself: The Play (DVD)
I love to watch the Madea plays they are so funny but yet still send out a message to people. This play was funny all the way. My favorite line off the whole play was "Hello can I speak to Scooby Doo". This was a great play. Tyler Perry doin the thing. They should make a movie off of this play, hopefully they will.

The disappointing aspect of this DVD for me is that after having seen several other Tyler Perry plays I noticed that he reused some of the same exact jokes in this DVD. Madea was funny as usual but she lacked many original lines.

5.0 out of 5 stars A nice Introduction to other fantastic plays, June 9, 2005
This review is from: Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself: The Play (DVD)
This play was great, it was the 1st one that I have seen Mr Browne in and he is halarious. Madea and Browne put together would give anyone a laughing fit.

This is good wholesome material and I recommend it to all to purchase and enjoy comedy at its best, some other fantastic plays are 'Diary of a mad black woman(not the movie)' and 'Family Reunion' these are wonderful.

May God Bless you Tyler and keep on the narrow path, don't compromise for anything....

This review is from: Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself: The Play (DVD)
I love tyler perry plays and movies. He writes comical dramas. His plays are humorous, but there is always a lesson to be learned in them. His characters are well developed, and you feel like you know them as neighbors.
