Excellent. Perfect for new Christians or Alpha Course.,

This review is from: Tyndale Pew Bible NLT (Hardcover)
I would call myself an charasmatic, evangelical, anglo-catholic with ana-baptist leanings. I've been a pastor for twenty years. I was looking for a contemporary Bible translation for new Christians, especially those completing the Alpha Course. I've been reading the New Living Translation Bible, the New Believer's Bible: First Steps for New Christians version, for about a year. I'm impressed with translation, the layout and the helps for new Christians. I came upon this site because I'm shopping for NLT pew Bibles. If your interested, check out the translation team. Top evangelical scholars from schools like: Ashland, Beeson, Dallas, Wycliffe, Trinity Evangelical, Asbury, Fuller, Westminster, Reformed, Wheaton, Eastern, Moody, Mennonite, Calvin, Southern Baptist, Nazarene, North Park, Columbia, Gordon-Conwell and Trinity Episcopal. All of them solid, faithful, believing scholars. This translation is well done, accurate, easily accessible and in today's language.

Excellent, easy to read paraphrase,

I have studied the Bible for many years and was thrilled to find this new version. When I use this version to read out loud everyone wants to know what version I am using because the wording is true, clear, and easy to understand. Please remember this is like a paraphrase so for serious Biblical study a more precise translation is needed. For everyday reading, however, the New Living Translation can't be beat!

An Inaccurate Translation For A Politically Correct Age,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tyndale Pew Bible NLT (Hardcover)
The New Living Translation is sold as a modern bible for the rest of us who have difficult with half-a-millenium old English. Unfortunately, it fails to live up to its billing. While the language is modern -- it abandons all pretense with regard to telling the reader what the original autographs actually said. Its use of dynamic equivalence in translation is suspect, as is the motivation and views of those that created it.A far superior alternative: the New King James version, by far the most accurate modern language bible available today. |
