This was just what I was looking for. It's very basic and if it gets lost or broken it's no loss to replace it. No instructions needed. one button is clearly labeled record and the other play. You only record one message at a time and it is overwritten by the next but that's what makes it so simple to use. I bought it to clip on a measuring tape for a Father's day gift after hearing the lament that an aging memory resulted in forgetting a measurement by the time one walked from the measuring place to where the cut was to be made. Hopefully it will be a hit for that. In the meantime, I purchased another because a loved one was going to park at the longterm parking at the airport. Having forgotten my parking place on more than one occassion, and the experience of having to shuffle through scraps of paper to find where I had written it down while burdened with luggage and an armful of other travel debris made this seem like a very good way to note the cars location and have it clipped to the car keys ready to access on arrival. Even if it is only used once, its worth the cost rather than repeat my last experience of walking through the Las Vegas airport in 120 degree heat while clicking the emergency honker on my car key in hopes of locating my vehicle by sound.

It only records one message at a time and erases the old one so I don't use it much.

I don't remember if the description said so, but this only records one message; other similar ones record up to 4. Otherwise, it works fine and seems to be made pretty well.

I do not reccomend buying this recorder. There is not a lockout feature for the record or the play. So, if you record something, slight pressure can cause it to play in your pocket when you sit down, lean over, or if something else in your pocket activates the button. It can also be embarrassing if you are in a quiet place or a meeting and it goes off in your pocket.

This is also the case with the record button. It can inadvertently get pressed while it is in your pocket. When this happens, your memo is instantly gone. Don't waste your money on this device.

I was a bit hesistant to purchase this product thinking it could not possibly be a quality product. I was very wrong. It has good recording quality and playback! I recommend it!

I purchased these for my kids. They love hearing themselves and it was easier for them to run than their tape recorder (the youngest is 3). Anyway I agree with the other reviews that it isn't good if you want to make a running list because it records over what you previously said, but if you need it for the purpose of knowing where you parked your car--then it would be perfect.

Great gadget for your keychain. Perfect for brief memos. I use it to remined myself of errands to run after work - whether it's a short list of groceries or a reminder to pick up dry cleaning. I just hit play on the way to the parking lot and no longer find myself remembering what I had to do as I'm pulling into my driveway. :-)

It's smaller than I expected too; just 2 inches long and 1.5 inches wide - so it's smaller than most key fobs. I have yet to need the light feature, though it works just fine. Sound quality is fine for a gadget in this price range. I know there are pricier memo minders that record several messages... if I had a need for that, I'd use my cell phone.

This handy little recorder does exactly as advertised. As with a lot of inexpensive digital recorders, the playback sound quality is not as clear as something that costs a lot more, but it serves its purpose, which is to record and play back 10-seconds of quick memo message. You can only record one message; recording a second overwrites the first, so you are limited to just a single 10-second memo at any one time. It is small in design, about the size of an ordinary car door remote, small enough to add to an existing keychain, or just add your keys to it as an independent fob, and still easily fit in your pocket or purse.

There are three buttons on the unit: Record, Playback, and Light. These buttons are very small (the smallest is about the size of a grain of rice), and you must hold down each button for the duration of its function. (There is a red light which comes on when you are recording, so you can tell if you are holding the Record button down correctly.) The buttons are of varying shapes for their individual purposes, which I assume is so your fingertips can find what you want in the dark. Good idea on paper. However, I bought this unit for my 80-year-old mother, and she had trouble holding down the buttons. I, on the other hand, did not, but I am mentioning it because it might be something to consider if you are purchasing this unit for an elderly person.

The LED light feature is only bright enough to see a keyhole, but I suppose that is what it was intended for rather than roaming about like a regular flashlight. Again, you must hold down the Light button continuously for it to shine.

Overall, this unit preforms as advertised, and is good value for the price.

Just what was looking for in a small recorder for my purse to save little reminders on parking, etc. Have to say the shipping was almost as much as the product, but still worth it...BF

The light on this product functions well. The voice recording degraded significantly over a 2 month period. It does not sound like me at ALL when I record it. In addition, the button gets pressed by accident in your pocket. So your pants end up talking at some inopportune moment.
