Unbelievable!,
By John Carter (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Type II Diabetes Diet Book (Paperback)
My blood sugar was averaging 150-180 and my doctor told me he was going to put me on pills. I found out about this book and it has changed my life. In 1 month I've lost 28 lbs and my blood sugar now runs 90-126 and decreasing. Best part - I'm NEVER hungry. The book answers so many questions as to why we are unhealthy, and provides a detailed roadmap to put our health back on track. It isn't difficult, and the results are immediate.

A miracle in words,
By Linda P. (Washington, Seattle) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Type II Diabetes Diet Book (Paperback)
My boss and friend at work gave me this book. We are both type II diabetics. I read this book, put its principles into practice, and have now been insulin free for 6 weeks. I have lost 23 pounds. I was previously on nph insulin 70 units in the morning and 60 units at night. I have utmost praise for this book and Dr. Ezrin and Mr. Kowalski for their desire and efforts that have changed my life, and could change yours.

Great Book!,
By V. Kelly "majorv" (Houston, TX) - See all my reviews

I must admit that when I read the other reviews I was somewhat skeptical of how well it would work. I have tried many diets and they all worked for a few weeks, then I got nowhere. I have been on this diet for 3 months and have lost close to 27 lbs. It was difficult at first to stay away from pasta, bread, pizza!!, etc. but as time went by it got easier. It is true -you really aren't hungry all the time, and you don't have to exercise a lot to see results! The weight scales and the way my clothes fit have kept me going. I know when I get to goal weight I'll be able to bring back some of the things I miss (within reason). I highly recommend this book, even if your not diabetic.

This book will help.,

Dr. Ezrin and Mr. Kowalski have written a clear description of how their diet works. If you read the book and follow their advice and suggested meal plans, the results do indeed follow. Always consult your physician before starting any diet plan. After my yearly physical, it was apparent that i needed to reduce my weight and try to control my blood glucose. I followed the outline presented by Dr. Ezrin and Mr. Kowalski. After the first 48 hours, I was NOT hungry AND my blood glucose levels have continued to drop on a daily basis. This diet may not be for everyone, but it is certainly doing all it promised for me.

First of all, the instructions in the book work! As an added attraction, the book is technical, but very readable. It's one of the few books on Diabetes that addresses issues pertaining to Type 2 diabetics, and is very effective.

Diet Does What Diet Says,
By "brenc" (Travis AFB, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Type II Diabetes Diet Book (Paperback)
This book is amazing - it is easy reading and a breath of fresh air to those of us who keep struggling with diet after diet. Everything the authors say about not being hungry and experiencing a rapid weight loss is true. I am not a type 2 diabetic but have a family history of obesity. You do not have to have type 2 diabetes for this diet to work. If you are like me (fairly active and a nutritious eater) and still struggle desperately with weight, I know this diet will work as well for you as it has for me. The fast weight loss is instant gratification that really makes you want to stick with it - I lost 7 pounds within the first 12 days!

When you've tried everything else, this works.,

When you're an active person who already eats a healthy and low-fat diet, you might think that diet can't get you any further than you've already gone. That's what I thought. I'm a professional dancer and train very hard, and have been on under 1200 calories a day, which should have been the solution, given my exercise level. My doctor had no ideas, my dietician ran out of options, and I was still gaining. I posted my problem on an online forum, and this book was one of the solutions someone presented. I thought he was crazy, I didn't think it would work, but I read it - and it made sense to me. I did the plan. I've lost 28 lbs. so far, and four clothing sizes, and am still dropping. Most of my weight came off in the first three weeks. Read the book, think about how it's different from what you've done before, and just think: "I can't stand being fat anymore, but I CAN stand to try a program for 30 days." At the end of 30 days, if you don't cheat, you'll be well on your way to a new quality of life. No kidding. It works, and some of my dance students are using it now too.... it's worked for everyone who's really done the program without cheating. If you're at the end of your rope, this is the lifeline you've been searching for.

In two weeks I have dropped 10lbs!! I have never been able to think that I would actually be able to get to my goal weight, with this program I know I will!! I highly recommend anyone with a weight problem get this book, I know this will be the end of the search for that "magic diet pill" it dosen't exist, but this book does!! Good Luck!!

Miraculous!,

A non-diabetic friend at work read this book 3 times before starting the diet. He was told about it by another non-diabetic friend who had lost 90 lbs and kept it off. After my friend had succeeded to lose 20 lbs his first week (his goal is 80) and 5 more the 2nd, I bought the book and started the diet. I have lost 22 lbs in 5 weeks, and find it easy to stay on. I will have no problem reaching my goal of 35 lbs. I was not diabetic, but realize I was on my way there, after reading the book. Not any more! All 3 of us experienced the same things (just as the patients of Dr. Ezrin had experienced): we are not hungry, we feel good, and we have more energy. Dr. Ezrin is an insulin expert, and with Robert Kowalski has written an incredibly easy how-to manual to lose weight. They make difficult concepts easy to grasp, and have written the book in a motivational style. They suggest discussing this with your doctor--even having your doctor read a chapter in the book written to medical professionals. After reading it, my great doctor prompted me to proceed. Buy this book, read it, start the diet. You will lose excess weight!

Dangerously flawed,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Type II Diabetes Diet Book (Paperback)
This book contains several serious flaws that perpetuate myths that have destroyed the health of Type II diabetics for years. First of all, it maintains that obesity causes Type II diabetics and that weight loss is the primary goal. The author does not understand that it is insulin resistance that causes Type IIs to become obese and that the primary goal must be to lower blood sugar. The idea of restricting carbohydrates is the only thing this book gets right. The extremely low calorie requirements are unrealistic and unnecessary if fat is not so carefully contolled. The author continues to propulgate the myth of "bad fat," while most recent studies find no proof of the assertions that fat in the diet causes the health problems of diabetics, but prove that it is sugar in all forms (carbohydrates) that causes high blood sugar, high cholesterol, et.al. This book also makes no distinction between simple and complex carbohydrates, all of which are deadly for diabetics, and it encourages fruit consumption (just sugar in another form). Finally, the book uses carbohydrate reduction for weight loss only and encourages diabetics who have reached a goal weight to "go off the diet" and resume eating 240 grams of carbohydrates a day, which is what got us all into this mess in the first place. Throw this book out and read Bernstein, Atkins, and Lutz. "Life Without Bread" is especially recommended.
