5.0 out of 5 stars The Movie In A Nut Shell
The movie is all the band members (mostly josh) walking around with a microphone talking to people at there concerts, to other bands and amongst themselves. That is kinda the intermission to there videos. Which consist of Black #1, Christina Woman(MTV version), Love You to Death, Christian Woman(long version), My Girlfriends Girlfriend, and Cinimon Girl. 3.0 out of 5 stars Love the band....not the DVD
The After Dark DVD does provide some excellent insight into the band and it does include all of their videos up to the time when this DVD was made. However, I feel like there should have been some more live footage of the band included. The chatting that occurs between each video is a lot of fun to watch the first time but it gets old with subsequent viewings. Same with...

This review is from: Type O Negative - After Dark (DVD)
The movie is all the band members (mostly josh) walking around with a microphone talking to people at there concerts, to other bands and amongst themselves. That is kinda the intermission to there videos. Which consist of Black #1, Christina Woman(MTV version), Love You to Death, Christian Woman(long version), My Girlfriends Girlfriend, and Cinimon Girl. For most of the videos a few of the band members give there opinion on what they think the song is about. On each intermision there is one main person talking to the camera Peter is first up and is talking to some reporter asking questions about basicaly everything and nothing.... and thats about all with him. Next up is Jonny, he's talking about his hobbies and his thoughts on Black #1 thats about all. Next up is previous drummer Sal, that little section is short and sweet he says a few things and thats the end of him. Then Josh is going around with a mic and a little clip of him and Phill Ensalmo on Euro MTV (and youll be really suprised what happens on that little segment). Last but not least Kenny is at home with his wife and child having a little fun. Then a few moments with Josh and his thoughts and its the end. It sound really short but its really a good length video.

3.0 out of 5 stars Love the band....not the DVD, April 22, 2002
This review is from: Type O Negative - After Dark (DVD)
The After Dark DVD does provide some excellent insight into the band and it does include all of their videos up to the time when this DVD was made. However, I feel like there should have been some more live footage of the band included. The chatting that occurs between each video is a lot of fun to watch the first time but it gets old with subsequent viewings. Same with the band's commentary. Instead of being so "chatty", this DVD could have used 30-40 minutes of live... TON music. One more problem with the disk that might drive you crazy is the fact that there is no chapter selection feature. If you want to watch just a few of the videos and not all the talking, you have to fast forward to them from the beginning of the disk everytime...

I'm giving this one 3 stars only because I like the band so much. I hope that as they release future DVD's, TON will hire a more competent DVD engineering team.

4.0 out of 5 stars type o negative--after dark, October 26, 2000

what you cant get from the video version of after dark comes in the DVD version. the commentary is...well, funny (seems like a whole lotta inside jokes. ill admit to being lost during some parts)and shows the boys being themselves. parts of the commentary, for some reason, are bleeped out (who knows why, i certainly dont) the dvd includes a photo section(not never before seen), band bios (which are also on the website--typeonegative.net) and two tracks that are amazing and will be released on the "least worst of" album. it's great stuff. well worth the money. :o) (side note--if you ever wanted to know what the band really thinks of the videos, etc, this is definatly for you. lotsa ranting and raving durring the commentary)

If you are a Type O Negative fan buy this DVD. If not buy it anyway. Type O Negative is so damn funny in this video. You get all the videos they have made, including "Everything Dies". But why this stands apart from the VHS is because it has commentary by the Drab Four (the band) on the entire DVD. BUY IT.

4.0 out of 5 stars Type O videos rock!, July 8, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Type O Negative - After Dark (DVD)
I love these videos. Too bad MTV doesn't show videos anymore. Type O fans out there should also check out their other DVD Nosferatu. They did the entire soundtrack (new stuff) for the silent version of this horror movie - don't think the tracks are available elsewhere. Kind of wierd to watch a horror movie and listen to O-, but close your eyes and it's like you're listening to their long lost album! Can't wait to catch these guys in concert.

4.0 out of 5 stars The only way to see the band up close as well as the videos, May 12, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Type O Negative - After Dark (DVD)
I am a huge Type-o fan. This DVD totally rounds out my collection. If you like Type-o at all you will love and appreciate the behind the scenes "goings on". Very funny. You also get to see a side of Peter that you don't normally get to see. He talks seriously about how he sees his future.. while standing in a very scenic Autumn scene that he claims will be the location of his dream house. Also heard the pre-release of what will be their last record with Road Runner "Life is Killying me". The best in years. You must buy it. "Do not mistake lack of talent for genius."

4.0 out of 5 stars Only watch After Dark, June 25, 2003

This DVD is really cool and a lot of fun. This has all of Type O Negatives' music videos as well as having fun on tour. The videos are awesome; especially "Everything Dies" and the full version of "Christian Woman." However, the real fun starts when you watch this with the commentary on. You learn the secrets behind the videos. I.E. why josh is rarely shown in them; the bad actors; and what happens to their food. My only qualm with DVD is that it is little too short, they could have added live songs.

I can't believe I didn't buy this DVD sooner. I am a big fan of Type O's music and this DVD is great. Many of the great songs are on here with videos. It is also hilarious hearing these guys talk about things. They are so negative and sarcastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Type O Negative's After Dark, January 9, 2003
By A Customer
Obviously, if you are a big TON fan, you will want this video for your personal collection. It features their previous videos and some live footage, as well as several scenes of spontaneous behavior, and some not-so spontaneous gags they perform for the camera as well. Interestingly, you can also see the fans that show up to see TON, both outside in line and backstage, and also the infamous Slitzy. It's the entire TON family. You even see Kenny's daughter stealing the camera and all the attention.
Peter Steele provides a loose running narrative, and some insights into how he feels about touring, and we find out a little about his nutritional needs and prescription drugs. In fact, this video closely portrays the TON tour experience complete with port-o-potty bathrooms and grass hygenical practices. There are sides of TON captured in this video you never thought you would see.
Yes, this is a must-have for Type O Negative fans everywhere. Hopefully, they'll make a few more tour video-mentaries like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars For those who love music, August 8, 2000

This review is from: Type O Negative - After Dark (DVD)
This is probably the best "music" video put out by a band. Not only do you get the band's collection of videos, but you get a great look at the personalities of the bandmembers. A must-own for any Type O Negative fan.
