It does the job and fits the "class" of other $200 GoreTex jackets.Pros:- gore tex - unbeatable for waterproofing. I also have it in my insulated jacket and cant wish 4 more. - feels true to size, but I would strongly recommend to check the size chart, since it depends on the brand. - pretty good style. Black looks conservative enough, but not boring. Why 4 stars? Cons:- no flexibility on Velcro cuff straps - you have to unfix them every time you take the jacket off, because there is no flexible part on the cuffs: either closed or opened. Small piece of rubber bend inside the cuffs would work perfectly. - embroidered logo is overdone, as on my taste. I mean..even though it is originally pretty big and noticeable, they decided to put it on your chest, left shoulder, the piece that fixes your roll up hood, cuff straps and...buttons. It is too much and looks tasteless. May be I have the older model - I don't know. Anyway, it can be easily fixed to the "subtle" by black permanent marker. The result - the jacket overall looks MUCH better and even more stylish/expensive;) - roll up hood is a questionable design decision. I can not say I am a big fan of it. But again- it is pretty easy to fix - plenty of draw cords there. Overall I would recommend this jacket, especially for the price I've paid (~US120 total). But for the $160-200 I would look somewhere else. PS: buy with confidence from Gearhead Outfitters, Inc. Highly recommended.

I've been through three of four seasons with this fantastic jacket and so far it's proven to be extremely durable, breathably comfortable, lightweight and waterproof. What more can you ask for?

I am usually a Patagonia guy, but I got tired of Patagonia products from not keeping me dry. When Patagonia uses their proprietary water repellent, it never worked. So I moved to Mountain Hardwear and in particular Goretex and Paclite. I can attest this stuff is far superior to any propietary stuff. It works, and keeps you dry. PacLite is a little thin, especially around the wrist area, but this jacket is fine for the price, plus everything is seam sealed and even comes with pit zips. It can get a little warm, so the pit zips are a plus. I have been happy with the jacket. Hope that helps |
