The price of the Typhoon cast iron grill plate as compared to the other stove top grills is most appealing. I tried just keeping it on my range but since I only have 4 burners that didn't work because if wasn't being used then I had to move it all the time. The grill has to be seasoned before use. That took sometime. Since it is very heavy, it also made a few dents in my stainless steel sink during the cleaning process, so now I'm extra cautious. It heats and cooks nicely. It fits well over my two gas burners. I don't use it as much as I thought, and now I've had to find a place to store it. Great for cooking a lot of potatoes, burgers, grilled sandwiches, steaks and pancakes. However, I have an electric grill and I think I prefer that to this heavy cast iron one.

I bought this for my fiance since he wanted one for a while. I think the key to owning any cast iron products is to know how to care for them. We make sure it is oiled up enough and tempered before use. We have been grilling on it over our gas stovetop and love it. It cooks well and the grill marks are impressive, too :) I am giving it a 4/5 right now because we've only had it a short time.

Griddle is a great value - good design, heavy one-piece cast iron construction, and priced 1/2 - 2/3 as much as many other brands

We've used the griddle for both camping and at home. The only only other griddle I've owned is a thin Coleman camping griddle. The heat distribution is much better, but not as good as I was expecting. It's very easy to care for if you keep it well oiled. I wish the handles had a grip to hold when carrying vertically with one hand. Also wish the box it came in could have been used as a case.

Works great for fish and beef, and has a great large surface. Going to try it out for my indian dosa's soon too!

This grill/griddle is not long enough to fit my gas range so when I try to grill the pork on it, it keep moving from side to side. Also, it's not season yet. I tried season it but it still rust, maybe it's my fault that I didn't seasoned it correctly. Overall, I don't recommend this.
