4.0 out of 5 stars Typhoon Steamer - 8 inch
This steamer fits neatly over a two quart stove pan and which provides plenty of clearence from the steamer. The steamer works well and thoroughly steams and cooks the Chinese food that I put in it. A wonderful purchase that was easily accesible through Amazon.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good buy but to much effort
I wanted a budget steamer and thats what I paid for. The steamer is built alot better than the other really cheap steamers. My problems started when trying to find a wok or pan to use which was not easy. In order to use the steamer proparly it cant touch the bottom of the pan or the water in the pan. Big problem none of my pans would not acomadate this with out it...

I wanted a budget steamer and thats what I paid for. The steamer is built alot better than the other really cheap steamers. My problems started when trying to find a wok or pan to use which was not easy. In order to use the steamer proparly it cant touch the bottom of the pan or the water in the pan. Big problem none of my pans would not acomadate this with out it tedering from one side to the next. But I went and bought a cheap metal bowl it fit perfect in and it cooked great after that. After using it a couple of time my veggies started to taste alot like Bammbo, not good so I boiled lemons in the bowl and it still tasted Bad. Needless to say I stopped using it and got a real steamer a T-FAL cousine instant steamer for $40.00 and is well worth the money pretty much hassle free I don't have to wait 20 minutes for the water to start to boil like the bammboo steamer did. It has instant steam which starts in 1-2 minutes(awesome)and I have more space on my stove to cook with now that I don't use a bammbo steamer on one of my burners.

3.0 out of 5 stars good for the price, July 12, 2007
This review is from: Typhoon Professional 8-Inch Bamboo Steamer (Kitchen)
Took it on a trip to make special food (chiao bao). Works great but needs proper amount of time between uses. After about the 3rd time it began to warp heavily. The layers still fit properly only because i made sure it was dried while stacked. Great for the price but don't expect it to last more then a few weeks-months of consistent use. Might as well get a metal one if thats the case.Still great for the price. MAKE SURE THEIR IS SUFFICIENT SPACE FROM THE BOTTOM AND THE WATER PAN UNDER IT. girlfriend let it touch the bottom of the pot with boiling water and ended up burning the bottom.

2.0 out of 5 stars Was not happy, July 22, 2009

I live in a basement where it tends to be damp/moist, unfortunately the steamer developed mold and had to get rid of it. You need to ensure it's dried before storing.
