A true work of craftsmanship, this ten-inch-wide steamer is made of the highest quality bamboo. The woven domed lid and two slatted, interlocking tiers not only look beautiful but steam up a healthy meal of meat and/or vegetables. The steamer needs to be placed above the heated water source, either resting on top of a saucepan or on a rack inside a wok. Tips for cooking with the steamer are included, such as placing the thickest ends of asparagus in the middle of the steamer where the heat is the greatest.
After cooking is completed, the steamer should be gently scrubbed by hand with warm water and liquid detergent and allowed to air dry. Food can also be cooked on ceramic plates placed inside the steamer, thereby keeping the bamboo cleaner. What a piece o',

Worked great for the first 5-10 times I used it, then the thing fell apart. Literally it fell apart....rings of bamboo that were supposed to hold the grids in, popped out, loosened and couldn't be put back together again. Unfortunately it's after 30 days so I don't think I can return it now. Maybe this one was defective because the other reviews of this product seemed very positive. I personally am very disappointed with it.

It's common to see these steamers all over the place and from Amazon's display, this certainly didn't look any different. What made me decide to get this was the price and when I opened the box and examined it, I was pleased to find how well-made this item is.

I use this ALL THE TIME! I love my bamboo steamer. I burned the bottom of it until I fitted it on a wider pan so that the edges didnt' hang over the edge. It's awesome. Thick broccoli stems are done in 5 minutes - great for lunches in the morning. I use it to steam dumplings, refresh rice, carrots, onions, etc...
