A true work of craftsmanship, this ten-inch-wide steamer is made of the highest quality bamboo. The woven domed lid and two slatted, interlocking tiers not only look beautiful but steam up a healthy meal of meat and/or vegetables. The steamer needs to be placed above the heated water source, either resting on top of a saucepan or on a rack inside a wok. Tips for cooking with the steamer are included, such as placing the thickest ends of asparagus in the middle of the steamer where the heat is the greatest.
After cooking is completed, the steamer should be gently scrubbed by hand with warm water and liquid detergent and allowed to air dry. Food can also be cooked on ceramic plates placed inside the steamer, thereby keeping the bamboo cleaner.
