Typography and Graphic Design
This is a really great book. It's informative, it's thorough, and if you enjoy typography, or even if you don't, it's interesting to read. It's especially good for class.

This is not what it appears to be, but is a textbook
As a textbook, it's pretty good, with a solid appreciation for typography as part of the history of graphic design. But don't be fooled if you think that it's anything more than a textbook, since you can get much better information and much better insights elsewhere. And, as a textbooks, it's merely a Meggs wanna-be.
