Great Album and memories,
By
This review is from: Tyranny (Audio CD)
This brings back many memories! I was dating Dave Christensen during the time that he wrote and recorded this album. I remember the days of watching them play in Erie before they went to CA. We dated for 2 years up until he left to go record this album. I often think how great it would be to get everyone together and hear them play live again. There is another song floating out there. One of the guys came back and played it for me. He said "Dave is still writing about you, but he won't admit it until the day that he dies!". Many of the songs on the Tyranny were written from our relationship, like "I don't need the pain".

Stabilizers-Tyranny,
This review is from: Tyranny (Audio CD)
I have loved this album since the first time I heard One simple thing. I have a slightly worn tape and an old scratchy LP. This needs to be reissued on a cd. This music has never gotten old or tired for me.I was able to save it to minidisc but I really want a new clean copy. It's a shame that alot of real talent has gotten overlooked, the Stabilizers fall into that catagory, They were great! That's just my opinion and I'm sticken to it! Listen and enjoy.

There is a little more...,

I've loved this album for years; in spite of the now "dated" sound, its catchy tunes, great vocals, and tight production keep drawing me in. In case other fans of this album didn't know this, I thought it was worth posting here. There is an additional Stabilizers song floating out there, perhaps it was waiting for the second album that never came. It's called "Maybe This Time" and it's on the soundtrack album for a 1991 movie called "If Looks Could Kill". Used copies of this CD go for cheap when you can find them; grab it before it's gone too.

LOVE THIS TAPE!,

I still have the CASSETTE TAPE that I won from a local radio station in Fort Wayne, Indiana in the mid-80's. I loved working out to this tape and thought a lot of the music would make really cool floor music (gymnastics). Just bought the 'One Simple Thing' track from Rhapsody. It is a great 80's album. D Christensen's voice is still fantastic.

Glad to see it's available on CD!,

Well, here I am with my old boombox & turntable listing to my Stabilizer album - I can't believe I actually listened to albums on this crazy set up. I'm a girl from the 80's and loved this album. My favorite is One Simple Thing but the whole album is pretty sweet. I can't wait to get the CD and take this music on the road -- and hear it played on a real stereo!!

great 80s,
This review is from: Tyranny (Audio CD)
funny, allmusicguide lists them as hard rock/heavy metal, and I see where they get that, but I don't know if sax solos and synths are included in heavy metal, anyhow, I discovered this through pirate bay. I heard it before and skipped past it, I was listening to so many new albums, it's easy to miss the depth of the album, so I've gone back and re-listened to stuff I passed by. This album is great! for fans of 80s new wave it's a must. And just well produced pop/rock, it's a fine example. As to being dated, that's always something I love to hear, cause it's a sign of recording technology being fully used at it's time. Problem is, post 90s, recording got so slick and samey, it lost this sound that was great, worth the price of going to pirate bay ( 4 rare 80s albums) search that and you'll be in heaven, good luck.

This album should have been 3 times platinum! It is one of the best I have ever heard. EVERY song on it is fantastic. Where the hell are these guys? The sound that these 3 guys produce is incredible. Did I mention that I like this album? If your an eighties fan, this is the one you have to have! Did I mention I like this album? Freakin buy it!!!!!

I first heard "One Simple Thing" in the mid eighties and liked it immediately. I found the album and purchased it, not being disappointed with any of the songs. These guys did not get enough attention their talent warranted. Great album.

80's best album,

I bought this album on cassette upon its release. It became instantly my favorite.Only about a year earlier i immigrated from Germany and i couldn't believe this was an american band, since at that time mostly only the british could muster such great tunes. And since i live in northeast Ohio,it was even more amazing that a group from Erie,PA released such a gem.Impossible to pick a favorite song.No fillers. This outing ranks without reservations among the top 10 albums of the 80's.If only it contained a couple more songs. And why did they never release another one?One can hear their musical & songwriting skills shine all the way through. One of the most underrated group and album, just like the aussies 'Icehouse'.I have just purchased this release through I-Tunes.Haven't heard these tunes in over 20 years and they still sound as fresh as then.I also have just ordered the soundtrack 'If Looks Could Kill' from Amazon to get the only missing Stabilizers song 'Maybe This Time'.They should get together and give it another try.

OKLAHOMA DREAMING,

I FIRST HEARD "ONE SIMPLE THING" WHILE ATTENDING THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA. AT THAT TIME, I PRIMARILY LISTENED TO COUNTRY MUSIC. THIS SONG WAS ONE OF A FEW EXCEPTIONS. I BELIEVE IT IS THE ONLY TRACK WHICH RECEIVED AIRPLAY ON ROCK RADIO. NOW, IT IS MY FOURTH-MOST-FAVORITE SONG OF ALL TIME! I DO NOT LIKE THE OTHER TRACKS ON THIS CD; THEY HAVE A POP/"TECHNO-LIKE" SOUND.
