5.0 out of 5 stars Tyrese Nostalgia
When I saw that the new Tyrese CD was coming out, it made me feel nostalgic for his debut CD. I was starting to regret giving away his CD to a friend because she really liked it. However, I have since gotten a new copy, and I just love it. Listening to it again brought back sweet memories for me. Tracks such as "Sweet Lady" and "Lately" remind me...

3.0 out of 5 stars the talent of Tyrese's voice does not reflect in his new CD
Tyrese's self entitled CD " Tyrese" is not what I expected at all. I expexted it to be much better. With the hit songs "Sweet Lady " and " Lately" basically make the CD. For an artist with such a distinct, sweet sounding voice that ladies just melt over. His materials for the CD certainly do not reflect the abilities in his voice. However...

5.0 out of 5 stars Tyrese Nostalgia, March 11, 2003
This review is from: Tyrese (Audio CD)
When I saw that the new Tyrese CD was coming out, it made me feel nostalgic for his debut CD. I was starting to regret giving away his CD to a friend because she really liked it. However, I have since gotten a new copy, and I just love it. Listening to it again brought back sweet memories for me. Tracks such as "Sweet Lady" and "Lately" remind me of the times when I needed a good soak in a tub of warm music with the man I love (this is, of course, not a literal tub). "Ain't Nothin' Like A Jones" made me want to create my own choreography. "Promises" hit a core with me after going through countless relationships where the man made promises that he couldn't and didn't keep.

All in all, I recommend this CD for anyone who is into love songs with good beats and lyrically strong. It's a good mix.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Lady, June 2, 2006
This review is from: Tyrese (Audio CD)
How could I ever forget to review this cd. I brought this cd when i came out...some time ago and just saw the video and realized that I needed to review his cd.
This is a great cd and great first effort. There wasn't one song that I disliked on this.
Actually I think this was his best effort.
Yes I liked a couple of songs from his other cds but nothing like this.
My fav tracks:
1. Nobody Else: I loved this track. I dont know if it was the anticipation of his album finally coming out but when this video came out it drew me. Fast track and catchy if you ask me.
2. Tell Me, Tell Me: decent tempo track...always managed to skip
3. Promises: Very nice
4.Sweet Lady: My very favorite...great slow jam.
5. Lately: Very sweet, slow song that just takes you slow ride. Very comforting.
6. Give love a try: Funky, mellow out song. It will make you bop your head.
7. Ain't Nothin' Like a Jones: Same cool feeling
8. You Get Yours: Ok, can listen to....
I'll stop here the whole dang cd is nice...worth listening to because its a classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Original, August 21, 2001
This review is from: Tyrese (Audio CD)
Funk guitar, '70s soul string arrangements, hip-hop-inflected beats and sophisticated electronica-derived mixing techniques all play a part in the musical pastiche that is Tyrese's self-titled debut. While the album falls squarely in the contemporary R&B mold, and is bound to appeal to fans of the genre, Tyrese skillfully avoids many of the style's cliches. Though his voice is smooth and flexible, he never engages in R. Kelly-style histrionics, preferring to play it cool and communicate the emotions of the songs without over-extending himself. While all the tunes here are carefully produced and arranged, there's an agreeable grittiness that sets Tyrese apart from many of his contemporaries.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Lady, February 3, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Tyrese (Audio CD)
I am not really commenting on Tyrese's whole album, just a particular song. The song Sweet Lady, is a very important song to me. My 13 year old cousin was killed last year in April, and at his funeral his girlfriend played this song. He liked this song alot, and his girlfriend along with his mother felt that it should be played. I have just heard a part of the song and it made me cry. I have not heard this song since his funeral. There is, and always will be hundreds of songs that I like and mean alot to me but this song means more to me then anything else in the world and I just hope for my cousins sake that this song will never be forgotten, just like he will never be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great First Start, December 28, 2000

Okay allow me to critique Tyrese's first C.D. "Stay in Touch" - it's an excellent Tribute to his mother, "I Can't Go On" - very deep and very soulful, "Taste my Love" - sexy, succulent, erotic - I like, I like, "Do You Need" - interesting music, interesting lyrics - Peter Gunz gave Tyrese the hook up on this song! "Ain't Nothin' Like a Jones" Tyrese's voice is very mature, very sexy on this tune. "You Get Yours" I like the Ashford/Simpson music he choose for this song. "Give Love a Try" sounds a lot like a "Bobby Brown" tune. "Lately" is the best cut on the C.D. "Sweet Lady" is wonderful for the ladies. "Tell Me" Tell Me" - I like the beat on this song. "Promises" has a cool dance beat. "Nobody Else" - I like his rap particularly when he says - "If you live by the Na Na, you die by the Na Na. He's great and I am looking forward to his second C.D.

Tyrese is the man of any girls dream I compair him to Tyson Because of there rich dark shin. His voice will make you melt into the chocolate of his lips. This man is 100% all natrual with no if ands or but's. Sweet Lady is a song that all women need at this point. With the year 2000 coming anything is posible so men look out. Tyrese is a good role model for young men he has his own M.T.V show that airs all over and that gives the ladys more time to see him not only on videos but to see his sence of humor. Tyrese keep up the good work and see someone special for a birthday and christmas befor 2000. love Ya.
