5.0 out of 5 stars A DOCKYARD APPRENTICESHIP, June 8, 2011
This review is from: Tyro (Paperback)
1953 in a Scotish shipyard, sixteen-year-old Andrew Kinnear is eager to begin his apprenticeship as a ship's engineer at the Dalrossan Dockyard. He is so excited because when he finishes the apprenticeship he will be able to travel the world in his new job. But he soon realizes that there are traditions of bullying the new apprentices. Andrew Kinnear is put through his paces by Jack Coultree the workplace bully. Some difficult situations arise when Andrew is ridiculed and teased, before being put through a humiliating initiation ritual.

We follow Andrew through his emotions and thoughts as he deals with potentially difficult inter-personal work situations.

I recommend this story for anyone is interested in dockyards, or wanting to know how to handle bullies while being an apprentice, or just want a good old fashion moving story. I enjoyed this audio and my heart really went out to Andrew everytime the bullies appeared.
