I am checking out these Sutherland and Canwell books as I see them. The Cameron review is spot-on. The text and captions are crass: full of errors. Boats, places and commanders are misnamed; book padded out with pics which have little to do with U-Boats; commentary is childish. Where did the photos come from? Few have proper credits? According to the publisher's blurb they came from major archives. In that case wouldn't they have used the German Bundesarchiv? But I have a contact there who tells me they weren't approached. Could they be from other authors' German-language books or even musuem walls?
