This submarine is perfect if you want a model that shows the interior of a U-boot in exquisite detail. It is a beautiful submarine. I absolutely love it, and I would recommend it without hesitation to anyone looking for this level of detail in a sub model.

Note that it is essentially pre-assembled. It comes in several sections that are snapped together. If you are looking for a model that requires assembly so you can feel as though you are making a submarine, this is not the sub for you.

Bear in mind that this is not a child's toy. It is aimed at adults who want to see the insides of a German U-boot. It is meant to be displayed, not played with.

Finally, the maker is Japanese and the instructions are in Japanese. This is not a problem because the assembly is so simple, but the instructions do include a nice diagram of the sub and the parts are all labeled in Japanese!

This is a great set, it really looks good, it doesn't all fit together perfectly but it does look good segmented so that you can observe the interior details.

I purchased the U-Boat cut-away as a gift for a friend who is a history buff. The boat had such accuracy of detail that it is beyond words to describe. In the head (navy talk for bathroom), there is literally a sailor sitting on the can (navy talk for toilet). As an educational tool, I could not have asked for a better replica of this historic vessel. It was such a wonderful gift I purchased them a second one so they could display one with the side open and above it, one with the side closed.

I am very pleased with this model. Delivery was prompt and the item was well packed. While one section was missing part of the stand I was able to work around this. As is, it is a great addition to my display of 1/144 scale submarine models, but a talented detail painter could really make this model into a piece worthy of a small museum. Based on what I have seen in various references the model seems to be very accurate, and is a good value for the money. IT IS NOT A TOY FOR YOUNG CHILDREN , IT IS A DISPLAY MODEL ONLY.
