Comment: This book has already been loved by someone else. It MIGHT have some wear and tear on the edges, have some markings in it, or be an ex-library book. Over-all itâ?TMs still a good book at a great price! (if it is supposed to contain a CD or access code, that may be missing)

Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

A soldier's level of physical fitness has a direct impact on his combat readiness. The many battles in which American troops have fought underscore the important role physical fitness plays on the battlefield. The renewed nationwide interest in fitness has been accompanied by many research programs. The overwhelming conclusion is that such programs enhance a person's quality of life, improve productivity, and bring about positive physical and mental changes. Not only are physically fit soldiers essential to the Army, they are also more likely to lead enjoyable, productive lives.
This manual covers issues relating directly to the development and maintenance of the five components of physical fitness: cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, body composition.
U.S. Army Fitness Training Handbook is an outstanding resource for anyone interested in improving physical health, mental health, and general well-being.

I bought this book to start a home fitness plan. I have really loved using this book. There are some things that are only for the military, but I think there is a lot of information that can be pulled from this book and used to develop a good fitness program. When looking for a book I searched a great deal of fitness books. I trusted this one because you know Uncle Sam invested some time and money into the research. This is a really great buy.

The old manuals were better. This is fine for the book oriented not old school people. Worked fine in the past.

Just started working out for the first time and this book is great. Covers muscle building, cardio and diet.

Not as comprehensive as other books are on each subject individually. After you get started you may want to read a book on nutrition or weight lifting specifically, but this book is a great place to start with all areas.
