This review is from: U.S. Army Special Warfare: Its Origins: Revised Edition (Hardcover)
I purchased this book hoping to learn more about the evolution of the United States' elite and special-forces tactics, but was disappointed. This appears to be a history of the OSS/CIA and its propaganda and political operations, and is not concerned with strategic, operation, or tactical doctrines or experiences. See Counterinsurgency Warfare: Theory and Practice for the first two categories, and Light Infantry Tactics: For Small Teams or perhaps The Tiger's Way: A U.S. Private's Best Chance for Survival for the third. As a history of the CIA, it may be of good quality; but I don't know enough about the CIA or other histories of it to judge. |
