I wish I had gone with Arnold's Steel Pots...,

This review is from: U.S. Combat Helmets of the 20th Century: Mass Production (Schiffer Military/Aviation History) (Hardcover)
I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but after paying the money for this book I was really disappointed. The book does not go into depth. The editing feels like it was done by a high-schooler. The pictures are O.K., but they don't correspond to the text. For example, when reading about US Camouflage helmet covers, the pictures on the same page are of Korean War era chinstraps. Kind of annoying. For $40.00, I was looking for a serious text about US military combat helmets, but all you get with this book is a basic introduction, useless production totals, and way too many space-filling, redundant photographs. This is an amateurish book that is better off in the library of every high school, rather than on the bookshelf of serious collectors.

This review is from: U.S. Combat Helmets of the 20th Century: Mass Production (Schiffer Military/Aviation History) (Hardcover)
This book is a very basic look at helmets like the British-style soup bowl, the M1 and the Kevlar. It has very little information regarding accessories used with these helmets or other ways they were utilized. Photos are very basic and not very many showing the helmets "in action." Hard to believe the price they were originally asking for this.
